Smith's orchard cider Mill is primarily an experience but be sure to know what you are signing up for.
The first thing you can expect is good cider and good apple cider donuts. Everything is made on site and there's a view of the barn where they press the apples that make the cider. There is parking on the property and overflow alongside the road, that said please respect the neighbors, they've posted no parking signs in front of their property. It's all delicious and of supreme quality, though if you have found this orchard you are assuredly in orchard country and can throw an apple and find another orchard with apples just as delicious. The selection of apples is wide and different, you won't find acres of macintosh apples here, the one that I still remember seeing were snap dragons. The quality of the fruit is really good, I imagine they pick the less savory looking apples for the cider and leave the rest for patrons to pick. There's freshly picked apples available for a reasonable price by the pound, and cider by the gallon as you wait in line for what you came for. Once you've ordered your donuts and cider, I suggest the slushie, there's seating available with a pleasant dog named cider who's is food motivated and thus roams the area seeking to be petted and fed like a tiny king, you'd be forgiven for thinking it really owned the place. There's a sign mentioning that professional photographers need to register at the checkouts and the staff, who I can assume are the actual owners of the orchard Cider the dog not withstanding, are very much open to listen and ask how things taste. Delicious is the most common answer.
Now the let down, don't come here expecting to pick apples directly off the tree, they're pretty well picked over for the season. There were multiple parties complaining loudly that they couldn't find anymore good apples on the tree, granted it's mid October and the first frost has already come and gone. All in all it's an enjoyable environment and a lovely place to visit, manage your expectations and you'll...
Read moreI went and visited this orchard last Saturday, and it was by far the best orchard I’ve ever been to! We got there right as the apples were starting to be pressed, and the owner came up to us and told us so we were aware. We went to watch the apples being pressed, and they allowed us to have a free sample right off of the press! It was delicious, nice and sweet and full of goodness! And then we went out to pick apples, and the trees were full of apples! We will definitely be coming back in the weeks to come as the owner told me a more variety of apples will be ready each week. We came back up and got cider slushees and the most amazing donuts ever! They make apple cider donuts with their fresh pressed cider, and when I got mine they were fresh of the fryer! They were absolutely amazing! We then went and sat down at their picnic tables to eat our donuts and drink our cider slushees, and their gorgeous golden retriever, named cider (HOW ADORABLE!) came up and greeted us. She was such a friendly dog and would not leave our side! I love visiting friendly environments like this. The atmosphere was great, all the staff were friendly and very helpful, and their dog added a huge bonus to it! I will definitely be back again, and everyone should check this...
Read moreWe went late in the season and this place is popular so it was very picked over thats not their fault just saying go earlier in the season if your going to one of these better known orchards. Didnt see a lot of varity or signs for apple types (there may be more varity earlier in the season so dont let that be your deciding factor). Most staff friendly and i understan they were very busy. The apples may not have panned out but we atleast enjoyed a nice snack at their shop they have things like coffee and cider (hot slushie or regular) and apple cinnamon donuts at very reasonable prices (like $2 for a fresh cider and $1 for fresh warm donut that seems like a very fair price!). It's a pretty cute set up over all especially for families with kids with out trying to price gouge at every turn seems like a nice honest wholesum place. This place seems to get very busy so there will be longer lines and lots of kids which isn't everyone's cup of tea I feel like there's some people who just want apples and some who want an event exspence for family memories if your looking more for the first mabey check out a few places if your looking for a good family exspence more then I'd say this is...
