Very nice hike. Ascension hike 20 m. A clear path from parking but knee to waist hi weeds on each side. Wear pants. Mine were treated to prevent ticks and I had none. County Rd N to Big Hill Rd. Turn R on 16th Creek Road (keep sharp eye for sign, easy to miss this turn), stay left at the split, parking area on left. Perfect view with bench up top. Nice hike if you have limited time but want good workout. Much more to explore on top that I did not have time to see.

Unmarked sandy trail is about 0.45 miles uphill to an overlook bench. If there is more to the one-way trail, we couldn’t find it. Use the trail to the right of the sign at the parking lot. Watch for a plethora of poison ivy but also many wildflowers & oak trees along the way. Definitely wear long pants & have bug spray in warm seasons.

Five-Mile Bluff Prairie State Natural Area is an amazing place to explore! The bluff views themselves were awesome and there is so much public land to walk right next to the Chippewa River! Its definetly not for the average explorer though as everything is minimally maintained and there are very few regular walking paths.

Walked to the top of Five Mile Bluff. I thought there was a trail, but there wasn't, so I just walked through the forest to the top. The view was absolutely amazing. I could see for miles and miles and I could see the Mississippi and Chippewa rivers, as well as Tiffany Wildlife area. The top is a prairie , so the view is unobstructed. The only problem was getting there and back. The brush gets incredibly thick, and in spots the grade is over 50 percent. There was a lot of poison ivy...

Directions: Cty N, to Big Hill road to 16th Creek Road. Turn right onto 16th Creek Road. Stay left at the split (Sand Rd is what splits off), the parking area will be on the left, shortly after the split. This is a gorgeous hike. The views at the top are sensational. Trail is not well maintained but not bad. Be prepared for some burrs. Prairie on the bluff is unique. Once at the top, you enter an open area, turn right and go to the end of the open area and the...
