The staff was friendly. Especially Rose. She was a sweetheart and exceptionally helpful with all of our needs. The campground was nice with regards to offering several amenities. Pools, carts for kids to ride around, outdoor games, live music, wine tasting, a pancake breakfast and they even sell ice cream. They have a fishing pond, however, the pond area was extremely filthy from goose feces. It appeared that it hadnât been cleaned in over a month. There was literally no where to stand where you wouldnât have it all over your shoes, therefore we didnât fish. The biggest problem was with the dog walker. They offer a tour of New York City. Youâre gone for approximately 12 hours. We filled out the paperwork for the dog walking service, (paid for 2 walks), to come while we were on the tour and for the following day so we could go back on our own. I specifically paid and requested for her to come the day before we were to leave so she could get acquainted with our dog and have an idea of some of his quirks, thinking that if I went on a short walk with her and the dog, I could explain how he kicks and scratches so much and simply helping him down the steps and back up the steps of the motor home because heâs old. Also letting him meet her with us around, before she just shows up the following day and he has no idea who this person is coming for him. Thought it would be nice if we could meet her also to know who we were giving the keys of the motor home to. She was 45 minutes late. I had to call down to the office for them to remind her of the dog walking appointment. She apologized for being late saying she had so many dogs to walk that day that she forgot. I explained my reasons for asking her to come a day early and she told me that wasnât necessary. I went on the SHORT walk with her and our dog anyway. We hadnât gotten very far at all when she told me that was far enough. I forgot her reasons. We came back and she was going to insist he climb up the steps to get in the motor home by himself. She said, âWatch thisâ. âHe can do it by himself â. I told her I donât force him because heâs 14 years old. She asked me where I kept the doggie bags. I showed her. Showed her where the leash was.
When we got home from the tour late that night, our dog appeared to be overly anxious to get outside. He went potty so much I was shocked. None of the doggie bags were used which was fine. (But why did she ask me where I kept them)?
The following day we went back into the city. Again, she was supposed to come to walk our dog. (I felt uneasy about it now and wouldnât have gone but husband really wanted to go since this would be our last chance to see everything). Noticed the dog bags werenât used again and our dog was super anxious to get outside again. He couldnât quit going to the bathroom. I could only assume that either she hadnât walked him or it was another very quick walk.
When she returned the keys to us the following day, she told my husband that she had 9 dogs to walk which was too many, so she had someone else walk him. After I specifically told her that was the reason I wanted to meet her the day before so our dog and one of us could meet her prior to going away. Sooo, someone we had never met came in our motor home?
Just an FYI regarding their dog walking service:...
Read moreFirst and foremost I want to say the Iâve always loved camping at KOA as the grounds are well maintained and the staff have always been very welcoming. Over the past several years my family has set up annual gatherings at your various sites. Most recently we rented out the 3 largest cabins at your Plattekill KOA and all was going fine until we were met with a very hostile employee on our third night there (which is the reason for my negative rating and review). The area that we selected was separate from other campers, as we had pure woods on one side. The other 2 cabins were on the opposite side, while in front was a long sloping driveway, which brought us down more than 40 feet from the campsite road into a low ditch.
The reason I am going into such detail is because my family and I were all enjoying the late night, laughing, and talking by the campfire when out of nowhere came a female charging straight down the driveway shouting at us to cut off the music, no more fire, and GO TO BED. Who was this person that just aggressively approached our area yelling forcefully and without any type of introduction? I asked who she was and what was the concern, which she then responded in a very condescending tone, âIâm the manager and you all have to go to bed NOW,â as if we were all children, mind you she could have been my daughter. I was very taken back by her demeanor and the unscrupulous manner in which she attacked my campsite. The children were alarmed unaware of the nature for this abrupt disturbance. Moreover, at no time was I or any members of my campsite given a warning or alerted that we were being too loud after quiet hours. I accept full responsibility if our campsite clamor carried further than we expected; however, this issue couldâve been easily resolved by a simple conversation.
For the last 20+ years I have been in the retail business managing various districts with 4 to 5 store locations each with 40+ employees and surprisingly have never come across a manager or for that fact an employee, that had such a complete disregard for safety, procedures, and customer experience. Iâm bewildered that her solution to a noisy campsite was not to approach us with a warning, which we would have (and did immediately turn off all sounds), but rather enter our private area and create a further disturbance for us and other campers. It concerns me that there is no standard set of communication and safety guidelines for KOA staff to follow in a situation such as this one or if the manager who on the website states, "Casey Gardiner," just chose to ignore them.
This was one of several concerns that we had but I felt the most important items needed to be addressed for now.
At this time I will not be renewing my KOA Reward Membership nor will our continued trips be held at KOA. This will be until my family and I feel that you deserve our business by updating the practices not observed that unfortunate day and hold accountable those individuals that do not follow...
Read moreThis place is horrible!!! Myself and family usually will get 6 sites every year for the past few years and this will be our last!! This place is getting worse year by year. There was a torrential downpour, so we decided to switch our tent site for a cabin. That was the worst choice ever! We had blood stains on the mattress cover in the cabin. When asked to come change the mattress cover, they show up a half hour later and tried to hand me the cover so I can change it myself!! After refusing, it took the young girl 18 mins to change it! Not only that, it was disgusting inside. There was literally garbage under the bed from the last guest that stayed here and dirt all over the floor. I was told a supervisor would come speak to me and it's been two days and I haven't seen anyone. There are signs all over stating that we have to check out by noon to give house cleaning ample amount of time to prepare the cabin for the next guest, but obviously they dont prepare anything! Our power tripped twice and the only things plugged in were cell chargers and a light. There are no outlits outside and we literally had to go across the street and up the road a little bit to use a water spigot. They only had one curtain per window so it didn't even cover the window, and the window by the bed didn't even have a curtain, so the neighbors had a nice show. The screens were ripped on the windows so bugs came in. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. It showed the last time the workers cleaned anything was two days prior. There was no toilet paper and as you can see in the photos it was just atrocious! Tried to tell a manager or just someone but they were closed! They were supposed to be opened until 8pm and when I went to speak with someone at 6:15pm, it was dark inside, completely locked down and closed! The ONLY fun thing my children were excited about doing was using the bouncy pillow, but apparently they didn't have enough workers, so they shut down the pillow. Cars and golf carts speed around here like there's no tomorrow and nobody does anything about it. This place has just gotten worse the past few years and it's just so rundown! We wilI never come here again nor will my...
