This is another really great moderate hiking trail around a peninsula!

There are two options for hikes here: the red trail goes all the way around and is 2.04 miles, and the blue trail stays away from the water and is 1 mile.

We hiked the red trail here, and loved it! Great views, informational signage, benches, several areas to get to the water, changing terrain, lots of various plants and animals.

There's an area called the Black Lagoon that breaks off from the main trail, it isn't far and definitely worth checking out.

There's plenty of parking here, but no restrooms. However, there are restrooms at the Old Mill Park and the Star Lake Store just down the road (both worth stopping at, as well).

Well worth spending a few hours here if you...

Our GPS had a bit of difficulty finding this trail. It was well worth the search. Informative signage at the trail head. Liked the shoe brush provided to keep invasive species from spreading into this beautiful and fragile environment. The trail had many different types of scenery. Mystical forest, lakeside views from up high to water edge. The longer peninsula's outer Edge trail was about 2.5 miles. Easy to moderate hiking. There are lots of tree roots to navigate and some narrow edge parts that require a little extra care to traverse. Very peaceful. Saw a frog, birds, and both red and grey squirrel. We did hear a somewhat frightening growl at one location but never saw any sign of...

This is one of my favorite hikes. The logging history and the beauty of the crystal clear lake and the pines make this scene one you will want to pull your camera out to remember! Historically they "didn't allow dogs" but the last time I hiked (on 7/3/2025) the signs had changed to leashes pets allowed. Having two loops allows anyone to enjoy, however I believe the longer loop is better as it goes along the lake which is a...
