I did the Western Loop and the shortened version of the South Loop. Great hike! A little up and down, some rock hopping, very good signs showing native plants/trees. Things to think about: The Western Loop is really marshy with stepping stones most of the way. If you are less than 5'5, expect muddy feet. The trail map online shows colored trails. That's misleading. There are no color markers, just Westchester Wilderness signs. I was concerned at first, but it's okay, because intersections with other trails are very clearly marked. Read moreI actually find this up there with the Lemon Squeeze in New Paltz and better than Bear Mountain...however I hike alone often and both times (twice) I got a little turned around, signage could definitely be better, doesn’t deter me just spent an extra 20 minutes in the woods. Thought I was still in the roundabout but was on my way to North Trail, it never tells you this.
