Deep Root Vineyard — Attraction in Town of Pulteney

We stumbled upon Deep Root Vineyard while visiting other Keuka Lake wineries and touring the beautiful area around the lake. The owner was amazingly down to earth and friendly, and although the winery does not have the fanciness of some of the more popular wineries, the wines were delicious and we had an awesome time talking to the owner and taking a private tour of his winemaking setup. We stopped here looking for good times and great wine and found this gem off the beaten path. Owner is quite the character, and we had a great time chatting about wine, crystals and mining. Their May sangria brew was absolutely marvelous and unlike any other we have ever had. There were just 4 varieties available to taste that day and we thought 3 of the 4 showed real promise. This was our first trip to the Hammondsport area and we were looking for a winery that had some sweeter wines and be the casual kind of place we like. JACKPOT!!! We loved it the minute we saw it. Such a unique spot. The owner was so friendly and knowledgeable. We are definitely not wine connoisseurs, just like what we like, and he made the tasting fun. (Also there's a great cat!).
