My daughter was picked for the learn to hunt class this year, and she had a blast. We had great interactions with all of the staff during the class and after her hunt when registering her buck. We plan on hiking the whole area between now and spring. Lots of Wisconsin wildlife to see. It's not a petting zoo, so the best way to see wildlife is to get out of your car, put your phone down, and head into the woods or at very least walk the trails they have. We went deep in the marsh by a few islands. All of a sudden, it looked like all the all trees were moving away from us... nope, it was all the big bucks we kicked up while walking. 🙂 Next time we will bring our cameras to get better pictures.

The main reason for the post is I'd like to give a shout-out to all the staff for being great and to let them know my 15 year old daughter enjoyed both the learn to hunt class and the hunt. Thank you for...

Loved it. Saw grouse, deer, swans, beaver, birds of all kinds and buffalo were close by. A great place to visit. Visiting early morning might even more spectacular. Also it is free, just ask for donations. Horse flies abundant. Bug spray a must and check for ticks when you leave. See this all from your car or you can walk. It is a 14 mile drive on narrow road. Short cut provided too and a few hiking trails. So many different types of land, such as prairies, marsh, pine stands, flowages, oak barrens etc... You register at gate and open it yourself and close it. Same as you exit. Whole 9,100+ acres is fenced with in 9 foot fence to allow for animal studies. Buffalo number about 15-20 and are on 260 acres that is fenced in. Natural flowers, ferns and many...

I loved this place! This has a wonderful mixture of driving and walking through different types of habitats that are found here in Wisconsin. So many different types of wildlife can be seen here. The driving trail was really nice, quiet, peaceful. With wonderful views. Drive slowly with the windows down, maybe pull off and have a picnic. It's great. There are also places to stop, park the car, and do some hiking on some beautifully maintained trails. A few tall lookout towers make it even easier to view the beautiful area. Drives, hikes, wooded areas, marshes, loads of different species of wildlife. Beautiful views. Peaceful drive, with peaceful,...

Absolutely loved this place. Excellent place to view all sorts of wildlife including ducks, deer, and of course bison! The driving trail was well maintained and had plenty of safe spots to pull off to walk. I definitely would recommend bringing some binoculars, I was lucky enough to see the bison up close but I imagine they roam quite far into the enclosure. The staff was super friendly and the visitor center has wonderful taxidermy and exhibits! Definitely worth the drive to visit!
