I have waited the entire season to share this review. With my COVID-19 depression in full swing, I searched out an outside activity. I had skied 3 times previously in my life and could basically wobbly ski the bunny hill. I rented a seasonal rental of skis, poles, and boots for $130. I also bought a $350 season pass for me and me son and signed him up for six weeks of lessons. Costs for my son were $100 seasonal rental and $350 (I think) for the lessons/season pass.
So I began at the bunny hill. I was wobbly and would get very exhausted trying to work the tow rope and then balance myself as I got more and more confident on my skis. Early in the season the only "next level" trail was the Spruce Run, which I was most excited by because I could use the chair lift. It was a bit beyond my ability but I just kept working my way down until I got more and more confident. I had also bought a helmet so a few falls were no big deal. In short time I was able to get up and down the mountain pretty consistently without falling. In the next few weeks the rest of the mountain opened and I actually got to enjoy REAL snow fall. My skills only improved, and ultimately I was able to work my way up to the black diamond trails and now there is no area of the mountain that my son and I cannot handle.
Maple Ski Ridge is a special mountain, one that I plan to have a season pass for each season that I am still standing upright. It is small by comparison to the larger mountains nearby (I was able to try a few of those as well with my new skills and seasonal ski rentals that I acquired from Maple Ski Ridge), but it is perfect to learn and to ski and enjoy the nature and people. I made a couple friends on the mountain (even during COVID) and I plan to keep coming back year after year. Thank you so much to the staff at Maple Ski Ridge for keeping the trails so wonderful and for creating such an awesome environment to learn a new skill. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to give...
Read moreWay too expensive for such a tiny mountain. Over $150 for 2 people for rentals and a 4 hour pass. But it takes 45 minutes to get your rental so it’s more like a 3 hour pass. They really need to improve their rental process. They were letting people they know cut in line. Also, for some reason, every employee is really rude and very intolerant of beginners. Maybe worst of all, the parking lot is just a field full of 6in deep mud. Don’t even try to come without an AWD vehicle and definitely don’t wear expensive shoes. With the prices they charge, a parking lot like that is ridiculous. How cheap can you be? With our ruined shoes and a car wash, it ended up costing us several hundred dollars to go on 4 runs down the world’s smallest mountain. It’s obvious the owners here don’t care about improving any of their facilities. There’s even a warning sign to be gentle with the toilets because they’re old. Also, all the trails are too steep for beginners. The only green circle is the bunny hill with the worst rope tow I’ve ever seen. This mountain might be small but it’s not the place for beginners. I’m not really sure who it’s the place for. You’re way better off spending your money at jiminy peak or...
Read moreI signed up for my first ski lesson. The girl at the front desk was very helpful. The guys at the rental shop were awesome. I signed up for a 2 hour lesson and didn't really know what to expect for my first time. My instructors name was Alex. She seemed extremely knowledgeable. She was attentive, patient and by the end of the lesson I was comfortable putting on/off ski's, turning, walking with ski's and going down hill. I still have a lot to learn but I loved the experience. Its like nothing else lol. For sure coming back..plus I didn't know there was a place to ski so close. I live in Amsterdam and this beats traveling over an hour to the other places I saw online. Having a great teacher makes the whole experience wonderful. Alex is an asset to Maple Ski Ridge. From the lady at the front to the rental shop and my lesson you guys are all rock stars!....Thank you for the awesome experience...
