Beautiful property to have a wedding, but that is all you get. They don't provide food or drink which means it has to be provided from an outside sourse, either precooked or cooked in the barns basement, which will be very expensive and quality will suffer. They do not have linens or plateware on site either. More on this.
The barn is nice , but very, very small and most of the seating is on the second floor, which splits up the crowd. Any toast or speech will only be seen by half the guests, and the 16'x16' dance floor is directly infront of the main entrance making it more cramped.
The ceremony area is a very nice pine grove up on a hill, but a decent walk for any elderly guests to the happy hour hut and barn. Also, for the ladies, heels are a bad idea. They do have golf carts to shuttle any guests, but was only an option at extra cost. You will have to decorate everything yourself with very little time to do so.
The place is not close to any lodging except some recommended BnBs or "single rooms for rent" spread across the area. Buses would be a nightmare. Not to mention if you get lost on the way there or from, good luck with a cellphone signal. No calling for help or directions at all.
As mentioned before, they provide very little for the, in my opinion, unreasonable price for what you get. Not only this, but there are only a few vendors who are aware of the troubles they will encounter shuttling food to and fro around the property via golf carts. They do provide a list of these venders, but only after receaving a non-refundable 2 thousand dollar deposite. So, I can't even get an idea of what it would cost me to have the wedding there without spending 2k that I will never see again.
Perhaps my biggest gripe would be the lady that showed my fiancé and myself around the property. I am aware if how the wedding business goes, the bride is the focal point. However, I was not so much as looked at almost the entire time. Her back was to me several times. Even my questions were answered to my fiance. Until the time when we were talking money. Then it was all about me. I understand that the bride is usually more particular about the details, but I felt completely ignored and this didn't make me want to spend a dime there.
Truly a very nice place to have a small wedding, but you will be doing EVERYTHING yourself. If you choose to have it here, get a good wedding planner/manager and prepare to have a very...
Read moreCasper and his team are truly one of a kind. From the moment we toured Roxbury Barn and Estate as a possible wedding venue, we were immediately impressed by Casper's intimate knowledge of every detail of the property -- down to the time of day the sun would be shining through the pines in the ceremony space! Casper's eye for detail also extends to his eye for design. Even though we booked the venue before the getting ready cottage, dining terrace, or kitchen were built, we had complete trust in Casper's taste and high standards -- and we were right! Casper and his team also communicated with us throughout the time leading up to the wedding; he sent emails notifying us of deadlines and wedding planning timelines and also answered any and all questions I had (which were plenty!). On the actual day of the wedding, the team helped keep us all to our timeline and made sure my 86 year old grandmother, who uses a walker, was safely and swiftly transported to each part of the property. We chose the venue because of the unique experience it offered: a gorgeous woodsy ceremony space, a cocktail hour and dining experience overlooking the gorgeous mountains (and, in our case, fall foliage!), a beautifully restored barn that offered the perfect dancing space and loft for guests to sit or observe, and a bonfire to end the night. Our guests loved moving around the property and feeling like party just kept going! It was also incredible that Roxbury Barn & Estate have their own chef. Our tasting was one of the most memorable experiences of our wedding planning. The guests also LOVED the food; they couldn't stop raving about the short rib and appetizers! For the almost 2 years we worked with the Roxbury Barn & Estate team, we were impressed with the design, organization, all-inclusive approach, and care that the experience offered. We are endlessly thankful to have hosted such a beautiful event here -- and will likely be visiting time and time again...
Read moreMy partner and I could write pages and pages about how special the team at Roxbury is, but I will do my best to keep things summarized.
We are an unapologetically loud and queer couple who wanted to get married in a place that made us feel welcomed and celebrated. Our vision - a medieval/Lord of the Rings wedding that showcased our love of all things fantasy - was accepted with open arms here at Roxbury Barn and Estate. This was the second venue we toured, and we didn't need to see anywhere else to know it was the one.
Casper and his team didn't just welcome and celebrate us - they lifted us and our love up to new heights.
The venue itself is nestled in a hillside in the beautiful Catskills, and boy oh boy does it live up to any picture you could take of it - and then some. The entire campus is gorgeous, full of greenery that makes you feel like you're the only ones in the world. The ceremony pine grove makes you feel like you're in a movie, surrounded by the rustling of pine needles, and the quiet of nature. Truly, in every sense, this is a special place.
The food? Exquisite, Chefs Leah and Kristina are culinary superstars. Our team of coordinators? Knocked everything out of the park, Danyelle and Cole are beyond incredible. And Casper, our fearless leader, took our crazy vision and made sure every last part of it was perfect.
From their endless support and excitement over our themed wedding, to making our day run perfectly from top to bottom - all the way to the sparkler send off and massive bonfire with a s'mores bar - we could never thank them enough for giving us our dream wedding. The entire Roxbury team deserve every bit of praise they receive, not just for their flawless skills, but for their kindness, their enthusiasm, and their love of love.
We cannot recommend getting married here enough - this place is magic incarnate. Thank you, thank...
