Hinckley Reservoir holds a place near and dear to my heart. I love this reservoir. In the heat of Summer the water can feel like bath water. It's nice to have sandy beaches to relax on, it also makes you feel more comfortable knowing you're not going to step on anything. My one request of you if you visit is that you practice CARRY IN/CARRY OUT with all of your belongings and trash. Some people are disrespectful of the Hinckley State Forest and Day Use Area and leave their litter. Our last visit we brought a trash bag with us to do a little clean up of our own. Please keep our waters and beaches clean so that we may one day take our children and our children's children to enjoy...

Worst place I have ever tried to put my boat in water is way to low thank god we only have a small boat felt sorry for the people with bigger ones and absolutely no fish. The attendant was extremely rude disrespectful I could see that the only people he was nice to were the ones that were bringing him booze!!! I can see why the guy died there the week after we were there. The other boaters have NO respect for smaller crafts they do not follow the no wake...

Hinkley "lake" is often a very peaceful spot. Weekends and summer nights can include several party barges and little speed boats but if you have the luxury of picking your days and times then you can get in a lot of private & quiet swimming...
