This public space is a real gem. A number of sturdy picnic tables are adjacent to the parking area, as is a clean, pleasant bathroom. The wifi password is prominently located on the door to this building, as well. The Battenkill River gently curves around the entire grounds leading to a small, delightful swimming area.
A beautifully manicured lawn and perennial flower beds adjoin a former fishing cabin that houses a truly amazing collection of medieval art. There is often a local history exhibit and the Georgi houses a nice collection of mineral gems, as well.
Sadly, this small and lovely museum is rarely open, and is not climate controlled, so it's rare medieval holdings are in real danger of being severely damaged. The tiny town of Shushan does not have the funds to protect these precious artworks. The space requires extensive renovation in order to do so. My heart breaks that this is the case.
Did I mention that the best deli north of New York City, is just around the corner from the Georgi? Buy a nice sandwich and a craft beer from Yushak's, and enjoy a picnic at this...
