The interpretive Center is really good to help understand about the Ice Age and Glaciers as well as local and natural history. Several exhibits as well as small aquariums with live Turtles and snakes. Interactive exhibits good for kids and adults. Several miles of moderate difficulty hiking trails are attached. The road and parking lot is nice. In our experience this Wisconsin State Recreation Area is nicer and better developed than most others. Read moreI went along as a helper on my grandson's field trip. The staff put together a very informative program for the kids. The last time I was here, was on my son's field trip, about 18 years ago. The same gentleman hosted the program for both trips! He kept the kids interested with his knowledge of bears, snakes, and other topics of nature. After the program I told him I looked forward to seeing him in another 15-18 years when my great grandchild would be on his field trip there! Read moreWhile sadly the Interpretive Center is closed on the inside, there is an absolutely GORGEOUS prairie field and benches and an open area to have a nice picnic. Not to mention the a bunch of hummingbird feeders (You'll almost always see some hummingbirds there). Finally, it is the trailhead of an amazing set of trails, including (surprise) the ice age trail, as well as shorter trails like the Mammoth Lake trail or Circle Trail.
