Family did a 3 day canoe trip this weekend. It was my first time to Upper NY + ADK. It was awesome! Each lake has it's own unique aspects. St. Regis Outfitters were very friendly and helpful with getting us set up. Would definitely do this tour again.

Climbed Mt Regis to summit -6.9 miles round trip. Mostly marked except near top but its easy to follow the path. Beautiful views. You can see for miles! St Regis is one of the Saranac 6ers....!

If kayaking or canoeing on a remote, gorgeous Adirondack pond (I'd call it a lake, really) , with no development whatsoever on the shoreline, is your thing, Long Pond fits the bill and then some. There are a handful of scattered campsites along the shores, but it does not detract at all from the sweet isolation. As a bonus, one can hike up the scenic Long Pond Mountain from a lake-access-only trail. And as part of the hike, one gets to enjoy the small but easy-on-the-eyes...

One of my favorite mountains to climb. Although it is not a designated high peak, it sports a gorgeous 360 degree view of the Adirondack mountains with a fire tower that can get you higher. There is a large granite dome on this mountain so it can host dozens of hikers at the same time. This hike is dog friendly but bring plenty of water as the streams...

Need to explore Canoe options too - looks fabulous and calm. Also, it's well maintained area, not a chance to get lost, good...
