If kayaking or canoeing on a remote, gorgeous Adirondack pond (I'd call it a lake, really) , with no development whatsoever on the shoreline, is your thing, Long Pond fits the bill and then some. There are a handful of scattered campsites along the shores, but it does not detract at all from the sweet isolation.
