Upper Saranac Lake — Attraction in Town of Santa Clara

Launched from a fishing access point on Follensby Clear Pond with my wife Sunday May 25, 2003 in my two-seat folding sea kayak (Folbot Greenland 2). We paddled south into Fish Creek Ponds then through the cut over into Fish Creek Bay and out into Upper Saranac Lake proper. Headed east and circumnavigated Buck Island then up to Butternut Point, down past Whitney Point and back from whence we came....

Fantastic area for kayaking - a lot of islands, mostly rock (or private), we could not find a place to rest, but it's a great area to explore. Watch out for rocks if you are near banks, some of them are very close to surface, lunch point near...

Spent our 2nd summer vacation on this lake. Found it to be much less busy than other places we have stayed. Neighbors then to be more respectful of others privacy and avoiding disruption to one's peace and quiet. We will be back...
