Was looking for a mini golf place to break up our 2-1/2 hour drive from Troy/RPI to Northern NJ. Glad I found this place as it was definitely not where Google Maps led us which was to the town's Cantine Memorial Park just down the road. (I submitted a location correction to Google.) But we just had to go a bit farther down Washington Ave across from the HITS Equestrian center.
The place was cute and the course was actually rather challenging with a lot of curved fairways and drop offs around the cups. They also have a few little gazebo covered areas for shade around the course and two of them have a few chairs so you can rest in the shade for a few minutes if you need to do so. (I think the wind got the better of one of cloth coverings and the waterscaping wasn't running through the course when we were there but hopefully the place does a decent enough business to continue to do upkeep as needed.)
The batting cages looked nice and while over by the laser tag building we heard another group sounding like they were having a blast inside, pun intended. Also overheard folks playing air hockey in the arcade but we didn't have time to check it out nor the go carts but it looked like a fun track.
As another reviewer mentioned, the bathrooms are port-a-pots but as clean as I've seen with extra toilet paper and an air fresher giving me the impression management is paying attention. (And there is a hand sanitizer dispenser directly across from them sort of built into the fence but I'd encourage management to add a sign because if I hadn't stood there for a minute, I'd have easily overlooked it.)
So is the place immaculate? No. Is it fun, decently priced (currently $9 per person for golf), and worth a visit? Definitely. And it's only a few minute detour off Interstate 87 (NY State Throughway) so if your looking to break up a longer drive, definitely give this place a shot! (I see you hole 16, we'll...
Read moreI usually visit this place with my family to spend a little time together outdoors having fun. They've got a mini-putt course that offers enough challenge without being silly or too frustrating. No windmills, castles or clowns on the fairways here! The go-karts are extra fun with quite a bit of zip and a nice track that offers a lot of tight turns for passing and straitaways to build up a good head of steam. The overpass is a bit of a thrill too. They have single seat karts and double seat karts so the kids don't have to miss out. But that's not all! There's an indoor laser tag arena that my little guys love, an outdoor water tag arena, batting cages with a variety of pitching speeds, ice cream and even an arcade. There's a covered picnic area for you and your family to hang out in if you bring a lunch or have ice cream. It's located next to the horse stables and you'll often see families involved in the Saugerties Horses In The Summer event, a worldwide equestrian competition held throughout the summer. Just down the road is Cantine Field with a large playground, skate park and baseball center. There's a lot to do at Puttin' Plus, check it out if you're in the mood for more than...
Read moreThere is a lack of shade when enjoying the activities here; and the immense amount of blacktop at this establishment just radiates heat from under your feet. I got so over heated doing the mini golf, I needed to seek shade to recuperate before returning to our vehicle.
I would advise bringing plenty of water, sunscreen, and perhaps go on a cool and cloudy day.
I found the mini golf course itself rather uninspired: basic putting green with hills and dips. There’s other mini golf courses in the area that offer similar courses. So I don’t feel like putting plus is worth going out of your way for, but if you’re in the area already for HITS, then it may be worth it to you.
It may be worth going out of your way if you are taking part in the other activities here such as go-carts, bumper cars for little ones, or the batting cages, but those activities were not of interest to me.
I did not have a pleasant experience here, however if you come prepared for the sun and the heat, you may have a better...
