Read moreI would not recommend planning a field trip to this orchard. The individual responsible for planning the trips (Todd) is very unprofessional. We gave him a few October dates we were available for our trip and he selected 10/19 as that was the only one he said was open. He took down our class sizes, and asked us to split our tours into three groups of 1.5 hours each which he selected the times for. He gave us the pricing as well. The day before the trip we spoke (after calling him for 12 days and leaving messages with no return call) to see if we needed to bring anything with us, and he cancelled the trip and attempted to reschedule. He stated that he never confirmed the trip and then after reminding him of the details he stated it was because they were too busy. In all our years of operation, we have never had this happen. I explained how we already had families take time of work and the kids were looking forward to it. He was less than apologetic and pretty rude. After this call ended, I learned Todd is the owner of the orchard. Thankfully Bowman orchard accommodated us so last minute and we had an amazing time there today. Our families reported that Windy Hill is low on apples any maybe this is why they cancelled. This whole situation could have been handled so differently, professionalism and kindness go a long way. Thankfully we gave our students an amazing day despite this incident and their smiles were what...
Read moreMy family's adventure to Windy Hill was unlike any experience I've had at an orchard. We went on a Saturday in October during on of their events. I was recommended to them from a friend at work.
When we arrived it was quite busy. Vendors, live music, crafts, a cornmaze, hayrides.. it was a welcome surprise to see how much was going on there considering we just came to pick apples and listen to some music. This kind of environment was totally unexpected! My wife, son and I had a fantastic time there and everything from the prices (no admission) to the process of picking (pick up the bag and pay by weight on the way out) felt like the customer was always in mind. It felt very casual and comfortable. (Not at all like at least one other orchard that tends to cost quite a bit more and might even search your vehicle as you exit.)
After visiting Windy Hill Orchard for just a few short hours, I'm sure we will be coming back for many years to come. If you haven't been there, it's a must try. Hands down, our new...
