This is such a great local attraction for fall fun that both kids and adults enjoy! There is so much to do here, and if you're bringing kiddos, there are things to do for pretty much all ages. Your little ones can enjoy a train ride, a small maze created just for them, duck races, a bouncer made for their size and the corn stalk "beach". Older kids can get in on the action too; there is an obstacle course, a huge bouncing mat (like a bounce house), and 10 foot tall climbing structure, and it has our 2nd favorite activity, the apple shooter. You are given a ticket for each person at admission that will get you three apples for this attraction. There are 3 stations for patrons to try their luck at hitting the target, and you're able to purchase more tickets if you want to keep shooting. But the best attraction is their corn maze! The maze has a different theme each year, and with it being the 30th anniversary of the movie Jurassic Park, they created dinosaurs with the twisting, winding pathways. The 8 acre maze has a couple of different levels of difficulty, and once you've found your way out of level one you can step right into level 2. Before you get to the maze entrance itself, you can stop under the pavilion to get various tools to make the maze even more fun with a couple of games to play. There is themed trivia that will give you what direction to turn with the correct answer. There is also what they call MazeOpoly, which is a game board that has icons on it, set up like a Monopoly board. There are signs in the maze with those icons, and if you find one you get to use the hole punch to mark off what you found. We unfortunately did not have time to finish, so I never discovered if or what prize there would be. It was still a lot of fun! Lastly, there is a feature that will help alleviate your anxiety over getting too lost (like me). There is a QR code under that pavilion that you can scan, and it will bring up an interactive map of the maze. It shows your location in real time as you are moving, so it will help show you the way through, or out, if you wish. I find it really unfortunate that they are only open until 6 though, with the exception of a couple of special events, like movie night. We had to wait for a day that it wasn't raining, and that was a school day, so we didn't get there until 4:30. If I had a suggestion to make this place better, it would be to offer longer hours. After you've had all the fun you can have there, you can stop inside and purchase any number of delicious fall snacks. Most are reasonably priced, and they have little gifts too. The price for the pumpkins is great, cheaper than most places in this area. I have to give a shout out to the staff working that day. An attraction wasn't open and my partner went to see what could be done to remedy that, as everything there is part of the ticket price. They were so accommodating about it, and left us VERY satisfied! Lastly, my tip to everyone is to purchase tickets online. The door price is a dollar or more. Overall, I...
Read moreWent back for the first time in MANY years - used to take the kids (who are all grown up now) here to get pumpkins back in the day, and this place has come a long way! Enough to keep kids occupied and having fun for an afternoon without having to spend too much money! Of course, you CAN spend more on all the items for sale in the shop, but tickets for the attractions are reasonable (8 for $10 and most things take just one ticket although the hayride takes two, I think) and there is quite a bit to do for free, too.
The Apple Chucker was out of commission and being worked on while we were there but looks like it would be fun. We didn't try the corn maze because it wouldn't have been fun for our son, don't think, but it looks big and impressive! The animals were fun, the bounce pillows looked like a good time and kids AND adults can jump all day with a $4 wristband. There's a little train for young kids, a free wooden maze and corn tunnel, a fun house for littles and assorted things to take pictures with your kids' heads in the holes.
The bigger pumpkins were 4/$20, I think, but there were bins of cute little pumpkins and those round white gourd things for only $1 each, so we grabbed those instead. There were also some beautiful mums for $9.99.
The snack bar was reasonable - we got a big lunch-bag full of popcorn for $1.50 and there were these adorable little cider sippers in red plastic-apple-shaped containers for only $1.60. There were fresh donuts for .75 or a better deal if you bought more. And of course candy apples, caramel apples, etc.
I can't wait to bring my little granddaughter over next week and let her ride the train, see and feed the animals, get some snacks, buy some gourds, and stick her head in a hole to take her cute picture! ;) And maybe come back another time to try the maze, too! Quite an operation they've got going, and all of the staff (there were lots around) were very approachable and helpful, and friendly and patient with our adult son with special...
Read moreMake a plan NOW to visit the Pick’n Patch! I was expecting a fun day, but was completely blown away by my first visit to the Pick’n Patch in Stanley, NY. I don’t know if the owners have an official mission statement, but it seems likely it’s ‘Our main goal is to provide a welcoming, safe, FUN, and memorable time for everyone of every age’. Based on the vast offerings, it’s clear that the Wickham family has been very thorough, thoughtful, and deliberate in the development of the Pick’n Patch. Without rehashing every attraction offered, I can vouch that there is literally something for everyone, and so many things I’ve never seen at similar places. We were there for several hours, and still didn’t cover everything! Our 9yo grandchild freely ran around in a small group of their cousins, also visiting, as we kept an eye on them from one of the centrally located tables and chairs. Having some mobility challenges myself, I found the grounds to be walkable and without obstacles. I was also very grateful to find plenty of comfortable seating options when I needed to rest. A personal favorite activity was the Apple Blasters, where one can launch apples from a mounted cannon of sorts, aiming toward a variety of targets. Ready? Aim……SPLAT! I could have done that all day long. There’s plenty of food and beverage choices, including tacos and hotdogs, lemonade and coffee drinks, craft beers and ciders, sweet treats! We all left exhausted and happy. I came away with the feeling that I’d just had a nostalgic visit to my own childhood 60 years ago, playing outside with friends, running, jumping, climbing and simply having a carefree time! As I wrote in the beginning - make a plan NOW to visit the...
