We called and booked the same day. At first Alex was kind enough to get us 10 in on the same day so our family rushed there but upon arrival we noticed that it was just on a small ground zip line. Something that you’ll find homemade on someone’s backyard. He was rushing us through the process with directions all over the place. We quickly realized that it was only him and another girl working, whom he couldn’t even remember her name well. The zip preparation and built was extremely unsafe and dangerous. I’ve done many zip lines in other states and other countries and this one was very cheaply put together with no safety code enforced. There were 3 zip lines total and he did not explain well that once we got to the other side we would have to grab a rope on our own to cross to the side. I was the first zipper and it wasn’t until I was zipping across that he screamed ‘grab the rope, grab the rope.’ My dad came after me and didn’t understand well so my dad missed the robe and was sent back half way. Alex had to go get my dad half zip line and he was extremely mad about it. I told him that he did not explain this to us during preparation. I even asked him if there was an age limit and weight and he said no. Throughout the entire time he was aggressive, yelling, even made fun and mocked my dad numerous times. I tried to be quiet and just kept praying we’d get through it because we could tell Alex was not putting safety first. He yelled and screamed the directions, then leave to the other side and left us all alone to figure out how we’d get to the next side. Towards the end he continued to yell and the kids were getting scared so I had to tell him that he was not being patient and was being aggressive with us when he knew that he didn’t have enough staff to book our tour. He eventually realized this after I called him out and I told him that since he can’t control the situation to let me just help get all of us through to the last line and hooked and unhooked everyone out off to the ground. He even had the nerves to ask if we had fun and the kids were so frightened by his aggression and behavior that we just smiled and nodded. Looking back I can’t believe we went through with this zip tour and survived. Do...
Read moreWe reserved a kayak tour out of Whitefish Bay for my family of four. While getting to the beach where the tour took of from, I noticed Lake Michigan was pretty rough but figured the guides knew what they were doing. The whole tour had about 10-12 total kayaks with 2 guides. After about heading out into the rough waves for about 5 minutes I knew we should have not been out there. On DC Adventures website, it stated that the tour was fine for novice kayakers but the lake that day was not for novice kayakers. Due to the strong currents and big waves, people started tipping and the guides we're trying their best to help everyone. After about 15-20 minutes, most people realized it was too rough and tried to get back to the beach where we started from. About half the kayaks including myself and my son made it back but about half did not. Some kayaks topped and got pushed to shore which was a rocky short cliff type shore. One kayak had to be rescued by Door County Fire & Rescue. My son and I we're paddling very hard but it was very slow going and very difficult to move forward. A big wave came up and hit my son in the face and broke his glasses. Their is no way a gropg of novice kayakers should have been allowed to go our in those conditions. Luckily, no one got seriously hurt or worse. The owner did show up and tried to help and gave everyone immediate refunds. He also called me and guess everyone in the group and apologized and wanted feedback and said was going to use it as a learning moment for him and his guides. He seemed like he was sincere. Looking at reviews before I registered my family and I, DC got really good reviews. I think they are a good tour company, but made a very bad mistake that day. I hope he does use that mistake and learns from it and will not go out in those...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend signed up for a 3 span zip line tour and both adventure courses. We started with the 3 span ziplines. The guides were very helpful and nice to us and definitely made the experience better! They got all our gear put on quickly and did a great demonstration of how we would be zip lining before we even left the ground! They were very long zip lines and they were super fun to do! Very glad we decided to do it!
We started on the lower adventure course and it was a great balance of challenging and fun! Yet again before we even got up to the course, the guides did an amazing job at showing us what we needed to go and practicing it before we went up! At the end of the first level you slide off a platform and slowly float down to the ground. I will not lie, I was a little scared to do it. It just feels so unnatural to slide off a platform even though you are still clipped in!
The upper level adventure course was amazing. It was much more challenging and higher up. I have do not have a fear of heights that is super bad but there challenges on that course definitely pushed me beyond what I thought I could do! It also had me shaking in my boots at bit just because I've never climbed on these obstacles before this high up!
Overall money very very well spent. The addition of a kayak and paddleboard to the adventure course made for a very unique and extremely fun element to be able to climb on!
I think that the lower adventure course is amazing for even people who are younger and looking for an adventurous experience and anyone looking to challenge themselves should 100% try the upper adventure course! The zip line I would definitely recommend to anymore of any age it was...
