The wines are great, but the service...not so much.
From the time we walked in the door, we were not made to feel welcome at this winery. The woman behind the counter immediately said, "I hope you don't have out-of-state licenses." Well, we did have out-of-state licenses, because we are from PA (which is only about 45 minutes up the road). After she looked at our cards, she started us on our tastings. We had about 3 tastings and then she just started ignoring us. She was servicing the other customers in the winery, and didn't even look our way. Another woman came from downstairs and was standing at the checkout desk, also ignoring us. We sat there for about 5 minutes being completely disregarded, when we started to hear one woman talking about fake ID's to a group of customers and looking in our direction. The original woman came to us and asked to see our ID's again, which we gave her, again. She took them over to the desk and began talking about us with the other woman, once again right where we could hear her. I finally asked her for our money back and told her we were leaving. Not only were they talking about us as though we were criminals right in front of us, but they were also talking about us to other customers within the winery! As of matter of fact, our ID's were not fake, but they were just the newer PA licenses that were just released this year. They then acted offended when we got upset. Moral of the story: if you're going to own a business that requires you to card people, you might want to be educated on the current ID's that are in issue. It's not my job as your customer to...
Read moreThis winery is A+ in my opinion. Not only for the great tasting wines, but also for the friendly and fun atmosphere created by Pat and Mary during the tastings. This past Saturday I went there for a tasting with my son. We stopped at 2 other wineries before going to Willow Creek and I can honestly say there is no comparison. Pat and Mary work well together, take the time to get to know the customers and had 10 strangers including us, chatting and laughing like long time friends while tasting the different offerings of wine. We had so much fun that my son vowed to go back to the winery to purchase from them when we run out , instead of purchasing it from a store. ( he bought a case). Not only are the wines good but the grounds are also beautiful with a patio deck, gazebo, and a clear pond along with the vineyard. The winery should make use of the grounds as a venue for weddings, reunions, parties and concerts. ( Bring a lawn chair, buy a bottle of wine and enjoy a band). The grounds and vineyard would make a great backdrop for family or even senior high school portraits. If you are contemplating a wine tour be sure to stop at this hidden gem in Northern...
Read moreCute local winery. We stopped by on our way through the area. We made a reservation ahead of time just as a precaution. During covid the winery is doing a lot to keep everyone safe. There are sand sanitizer stations at the front door for everyone to use upon entering. There is indoor reduced capacity and bar stools are spaced out. No outdoor seating when we were there. The indoor space isn’t too big but the tasing shouldn’t take anyone very long. Definitely good to call ahead for a reservation in case it’s busy. Everyone must wear a mask until they are seated and the staff wears them as well. There are plexiglass shields at the bar as well.
There were a lot of wine options to choose from. I am not usually a huge NY state wine fan but I found a few that I liked and even found some to take home. There are enough options that there is something for everyone. There are 2 tasting options for $3 and $5 which include some generous samples and a snack to cover the current food requirement. The $5 option includes a glass to take home. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I would recommend coming. Good wines, and...
