Skaneateles Lake — Attraction in Town of Skaneateles

If your touring Central NY , PLEASE CONSIDER stopping by and staying awhile , for Skaneateles is one of the best of the Finger Lakes . Reflective crystal clear blue water that allows you to see the natural bottom at good depths below. Pristine picturesque beauty that was created by glaciers carving out sloping hills , so that shores are both easily visible even if your in the middle horizon of the lake , and those wine filled hills with their majestic mansions. If there's a little bit of cloud coverage overhead in those dazzling blues above, well then those tufts clouds of white float like shinning sails in the waters at your port and starboard's . Skaneateles max depth goes down to 315' . Folks , it's magical and created by time itself. Okay, for starters the water is crystal clear! How have I lived in the Finger Lakes region and never knew this was here...?! This lake is literally breathtaking. From the boat launch, to downtown Skaneateles, to all of the beautiful houses along the lake, this is gorgeous! I dropped in at the boat launch with a friend, and we kayaked all the way up to downtown Skaneateles, hopped out, and had lunch downtown. The entire day was fantastic and this is a place I will always return to because it’s so relaxing. On the north side of the lake - there are some sand bars so you can hop out and go swimming if you’re on a boat. Or, in our case, we pulled our kayaks to the edge and hopped out and went swimming.
