Being from Astoria (NYC) it's not always easy to get the family out of the city to see something other than concrete. But as a 50 minute ride away from town, visiting this historic farm was a great day trip. Farm animal sightseeing is great. No petting zoo element, but that's ok. It's more real. You can throw a blanket down anywhere and bring your own lunch. The snack bar is just fried, greasy food and no vegetarian options. (Which is ironic seeing as it's a farm.) The museum / historical elements are nice and walking through the old farm house is cool too. There was a farmer's marketing going on the day we where there. And there was a "fairy" walk event going on where families with little girls were invited to dress them up in fairy costumes and walk them along a trail in the woods. I mean, wooded fairy walk? How freakin' cute is that? Can check that one...
Read moreMy wife and I took our 3 year old son here to see some animals and get some fresh air. We were able to see chickens, cows, goats, sheep, pigs, and horses while we were there. It was very late in the season so most of the animals were not active and inside their specific barn areas. I think this would be a better place to visit during the spring/early summer. It had rained pretty hard the day earlier so most of the paths were extremely muddy and a mess. We had brought boots given the prior days bad weather and were so lucky we did. I am not sure if we could have walked around without them so keep that in mind when visiting during/after bad weather. Also given covid 19 none of the buildings were open but it was still a good way to get some fresh air with the little man. Worth a visit if you are looking to get out for the day...
Read moreA wonderful place to go to, as we have been doing every Sunday to visit the Farm Market for years, BUT A HUGE DRAWBACK and shame is after rain the always terrible condition of the parking lot area as well as the grounds you have to walk on to reach the market stands! Why? Because nothing in these years has been done to improve the drainage of rain water around those two areas. Sure, the main building is.newly painted this summer and overall everything is in pretty good shape. But the mentioned areas remain as bad aa they’ve been for years! SO, PLEASE, PLEASE fix finally the main problem affecting everyone visiting: the large water puddles that leave much of parking area unusable and make all visitors trying to navigate thru them without getting their feet wet and muddy. The current state of the...
