So, was heading to Cooper's beach from CT via the OP Ferry with a motorcycle and my GF. The little cute 16-18 year old cherub at the front gate wanted 50 bucks to park a motorcycle on a cool cloudy windy Friday...and it was spitting rain. I know we are in the Hampton's at one of the most popular beaches in the country, but let's get real. I had just spent 88 dollars for two lobster salads at Le Chef in Southampton, but that was worth it (occasionally). I wanted to call the police, but they would have probably sided with her. So we pulled a u turn and went to Road D Beach ... on her suggestion I might add (it probably happens a lot and for the record there were only about 20 cars who gave into the highway robbery that day). Road D is a little over 3 miles down on the left past Cooper's heading West. You have to look for it, small parking lot only holds 20-30 cars (Google it so you know what to look for)....but always room for motorcycles. Weather was marginal, so no problem parking. A short walk to the beach and wow, its beautiful, another endless LI beach, but this one doesn't cost anything to visit. Lots of waves great for body surfing, beach drops off pretty quick in the water, so be careful. Remember this is the Atlantic ocean your dealing with. You need drinks and snacks, no concessions...should not be too big a deal, going to the beach is like camping on the water for a day. No lifeguards...who cares...learn to swim, teach your kids to swim and keep an eye on them...this beach will be a real challenge with small children, will require your attention 110% No bathrooms, time your swims accordingly...lol LI beaches are just beautiful, you will never visit such a beautiful place for free. Biggest issue will be parking, I would plan on getting there really early if its a hot day on the weekend. The rain held off, it was in the mid 70's...we had a...
Read moreThe only beach in the village of Southampton that does not require a parking permit! Located near the west end of Meadow Lane, it's out-of-the-way location means it attracts fewer people than Coopers Beach (which also charges $40/day to park). No facilities here, but lots of beautiful, open space. The best-kept secret in...
Read moreAwesome spot to relax and it’ll give you the elbow room to do so. It’s also pet friendly, there’s good parking with trash bins provided, and above all, it’s a quiet area. Be aware though as some larger pet owners do not leash their dogs, in case you have those smaller pets that aren’t very friendly…...
