A very fun place to visit any time of the year . In the summer you can camp at the Beaver Pond or at the R.V. Campsites , walk or what i do , bike on the trails . They have multiple trails to chose from . They have the Beaver Pond trail that connects to the road near the lake turnoff , the Sleeping Lion trail , which is a bit steep with roots so watch your step . I myself have never been to the top of the Sleeping Lion trail because the trail is to steep for my liking . They also have another trail that continues from the base of the S.L. trail ( I can't recall the name) that runs above the coast of the lake , goes down to the end then loops around . There is a magnificent viewing point a little past the S.L. trail which i believe is called " The Scenic Overlook " that looks over the lake , and you can also see the distant and historic Cooperstown . There is also swimming , which i found a pair of sunglasses ( will put image of sunglasses ) . Anyways where was I ... Ohh yeah , swimming , it is very helpful after a hour or two of biking the trails and roads , or just on a hot day . The concessions are good ( i like the burgers , with half the bottle of pepper , don't tell them ! ) . And now drum roll winter ! In the winter there is tubing , which is fun if you don't crash and hurt your arm ( like i did in 2015 - 2016 winter) . Don't forget , a frozen lake for whatever you want , ice skating , fishing or fun . That is pretty much my overly long review for Glimmerglass . Ohh the sunglasses ,...
Read moreMostly reviewing on the beach itself. It was $7 to get into the park. They do have camping and t.v. sites also. Wood and some supplies appeared to be at the ranger station as you enter the park. They do announce early camping site access is open over the loudspeaker at the beach when it is time. The parking and beach access is great! It is flat and has lots of parking. Playgrounds flank the beach on the grass between the parking lot and beach. Handicap parking is right up front and it is a very short trip to get to the beach from there. I did see atleast one handicap beach wheelchair at the lifeguard station that was available. They do have nice and standard bathrooms and changing areas. They also have a conession stand with decentish priced items. Candy, iceream, freezy pops were $.25 each i think, slushy $1.50 for a little, fries $3, chicken tenders $4 or $5, hotdog $3 etc. So about what you'd ecpect. The beach itself has nice sand but is a smaller beach overall. The water is nice and has a very very very slow decent to deeper water. So the kids love it! They can go so far out and still not have the water above their heads! The guards are attentive. Can use swim goggles as long as they do not cover the nose. No floats or pool noodles like most other playces. Overall this is our fav...

If you want a place where you can go and get away from technology some what is a perfect area it's got signs up everywhere no drone zone. During the time that my family and the other Scouts were there there was a 5k / 10K run walk event going on from the main Beach. For sanitation there is plenty of porta potties they do have a shower house / bath house you can bring your pets just would need your shots records and tags. They do offer would on sight as you first enter the park. All in all it was a peaceful experience an even when it rains they have the availability for those who may be looking for an activity to do where you can go on the tour of the grounds Maine house which they do three different types of toys one of them just so happens to be a quote haunted/ghost tour.
