1:20:2022 Today, my dog, Odin and I hiked the Sleeping Lion Trail within the Glimmerglass State Park near Cooperstown NY This trail is approx 2 miles round trip.. there was about 8 inches of snow on the ground to trudge through… Well marked with tree blazes and paint on trees. So quiet and serene and untouched today… no others wanted to brave the cold , breezy winter temps today, I guess! Found a nicely formed berl on a tree near the trail…see enclosed pix! Very nice trail.. throughly enjoyed our walk! saw about 3 deer! Lake appears...

We went when the snow was deep and misjudged the cold conditions. By the time we got out, we were pretty frozen. It was a beautiful walk though and we followed a 🐻 around most of the day, we never caught a glimpse of him but we kept seeing bear signs and tracks throughout the day. It was a great hike despite the cold that I plan to repeat during better weather. The view coming out of the trail...

I agree with most other reviews I read about the trail. It is just an average trail through the woods with not too much spectacular scenery. The beginning of the trail is a little steep but levels off quickly. The bugs were a big problem on the day we went. There are a few good views of the lake on the dirt path that leads to the trailhead. There is a 7 dollar entrance fee to get into...

I agree with most other reviews I read about the trail. It is just an average trail through the woods with not too much spectacular scenery. The beginning of the trail is a little steep but levels off quickly. The bugs were a big problem on the day we went. There are a few good views of the lake on the dirt path that leads to the trailhead. There is a 7 dollar entrance fee to get into the state park.
