This whole concept of a high school with a zoo is truly brilliant . Nothing like hands on learning for students . I loved my time here which was several hours .
Julia in the gift shop was incredibly helpful & personable. The gift shop has so many unique items and packs a big punch in a small space . The prices are reasonable and I was able to secure several items for gifts . It’s also nice that some drinks & snacks are available to purchase there .
There is accessible parking right outside the gift shop and a ramp to enter the building to buy tickets & have a look inside the store . The rest of the zoo is also accessible for wheelchairs walkers & strollers .
As a side note I was also thrilled to find some soaps made by an entrepreneur who is deaf .
I added lots of photos/video so be sure to check those out so you can get more of a feel of the place .
I think you’ll find that the animals are all very well taken care of here . It was awesome to see the students out on the grounds feeding them .
I’ve told me so many people about this place so it’s safe to say I highly recommend a visit .
Thank you Trevor-Lovejoy for a very memorable experience . Hope to come back...
Read moreThis is a really cute zoo for kids who are younger without the trek to something like the Bronx Zoo. Our library offers passes for free admission, and it's very reasonably priced otherwise. The grounds are lovely and well maintained, and there's a small but nice variety of animals to see. My son loves owls and they have a variety of owls to observe. We visited during the summer and there was a large camp group which made it a bit difficult to take our time, and then we visited again recently on a warm day and had a more leisurely visit. It's not a huge zoo, and you can easily walk through in an hour depending on your little one's attention span. It was unclear if some of the exhibits were closed for the winter or if the animals were just hiding. The only negative is that one of the indoor exhibits (building shared by the vet clinic) smelled very strongly of animal urine and was almost unbearable, so we skipped anything inside there. Overall it's a nice place to see some...
Read moreI love this place. I've been there during all seasons and all weather. It's not your typical zoo. The animals have enclosures that are built into the surroundings. The zoo is the only one in the country attached to a private school and throughout the year kids are taught to care for and support the animals. I love walking around. It is funny/odd to realize Trevor zoo sits amongst homes and a school. For some reason, it reminds me of the movie 'we bought a zoo.' When my son was young we had a birthday party there and it comes with an educational component where they were taught about the animals and allowed to pet and hold two. Now he's a volunteer there and he's learned so much. It's definitely one of my favorite places to visit. If you go, be sure to take some time to enjoy the sounds of the creek on your walk to the entrance. Oh and don't expect to have cell service...it's...
