Definitely a must stop place for historians, avid Revolutionary War enthusiasts, anyone who is curious, everywhere who want to know a little more of early American history and are local/travelling through Saratoga Springs NY. We took the audio car tour and it was very informative, and gave options for pausing and getting out to see the battlefields and then listening when reaching the stops. There is also horseback trails, walking trails in the park as well. The visitor center was clean and staff on duty were very friendly and informative with the many questions about the site and area. It also had several rooms of revolutionary war artifacts, including a "light" cannon, as well as timelines and history. My friends and I were pleased with this stop and would highly recommend coming here. Be sure to support the park with donations or buying from the storefront in the visitor center. (Note: the tours were free, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy it, two hours was ideal for the car one, but allow more for hiking, etc.)

Great place to visit for many different reasons! If you're into history the battlefield is very informational and does a great job presenting aspects of the Battle of Saratoga. Occasionally, on weekends you can find reenactors at some of the stops. The visitor center has nice displays and a movie. At the writing of this some of the stops are under construction to improve the park experience. Many people also use the park as bike trail. The loop around the park is 10 miles and has very little motor traffic, so to use it as a bike trail is a very good idea. The road is downhill most of the way, but the last mile and half is up hill. You are also free to stop at the historical stops For nature lover's there is much to enjoy here as well. You're almost guaranteed to see a dear. Many birds around as well. A hiking/walking trial is also a part of this. Either way there is something to enjoy for everyone at the Saratoga National Historical Park.

Do not underestimate this park. My friends and I thought we’d be done with everything in about 2 hours; in actuality we stayed in the park for about 7 hours because there was so much to see and do. If you want to get the full experience, definitely watch the 20 minute historical video for context about the park and its past, check out the museum in the visitor center, do the 4 mile foot hike, and finish with the 10 mile driving loop while listening to the audio guide. If you do all this and actually pay attention and read the signs, you will find there is a lot to see and take in. If you rush from stop to stop and just glance at stuff, then this park will be boring for you. The park rangers are so helpful and informative, and love answering questions and helping plan your visit so make use of their knowledge. Overall this park really exceeded our expectations and is an amazing experience given everything is free!

Was here many years ago, and decided to return. The visitor center was good, short movie and some artifacts on display. The battlefield drive is pretty much a let down, at least for now. Not much to see, almost no placards or monuments. I guess I thought it was going to be more like Gettysburg. Still glad I did it though.. being a history buff. Many stops along the way are closed, which I assume is for updating and building up area for the 250th anniversary of probably the MOST important battle of the American Revolution... ok. Not probably.. THE MOST IMPORTANT. Because of its importance, I guess I expected more... The battlefield run would be an awesome bike run, if you so incline.

A great place to spend the day and learn some history and enjoy nature. The visitor center is closed right now, apparently under construction. That means the bathrooms are closed so there are only portable toilets available. This is a great hike 10+ miles on the Wilkerson trail, plus a huge driving loop. You can also walk or bike the loop as well. At each stop there is a historic story. You can use your own phone to listen to the audio tours. There are different versions for adults and kids. Also, the guides, volunteers and park rangers are all very friendly and helpful. Bring plenty of water for the hike as it is downhill most of the way and uphill on the way back.

Beautiful park with tons of history. There is a driving and hiking option to hit all the spots. I think there are 10 spots on the driving trail, and you can listen to descriptions of each stop from your phone. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, especially at the Neilson House. There is an exhibit at the main entrance, which does an excellent job of telling Benedict Arnold's story (the famous Boot Monument is a short walk from Breymann's Redoubt). While the park is a treasure trove of history and beautiful views, they are continuously working on making the experience even better. It's a must visit for any American history buff!
