My husband and I had a lovely trip in Saratoga Springs. We had dinner at the Mouzon House, stayed at the Brentwood Hotel and then breakfast at Hattie’s. Everything was wonderful. Before heading back to NJ we decided to go on a scenic drive through the National Park. We read that there was a pretty 12 mile loop. The road was wide, smooth, had few bends and was nearly empty. Soon after we entered we passed a police car on our right. We were driving slowly because we were enjoying the view. The officer stopped us and said he had clocked me going “upwards of 41” going down the hill (that he was waiting atop). Apparently it was a 30 mph limit, very sporadically marked. He took my license, registration and insurance to check and everything checked out. So he let us off with a written warning. (Bizarrely, when he came back he said, and the warning said, I was going 43.) I’m not sure what the point was. Perhaps it’s only worth it to give people tickets if something else is amiss: no physical insurance card or expired registration etc. Or maybe there are a lot of wanted criminals who take drives through that park? Luckily everything was up to date and present for me (and I’m not wanted for any crime). But that didn’t stop it from being a very negative experience to end our otherwise lovely visit. We left the park right away and will not be back. So... I can’t really comment on anything in the park but can give the advice to make sure you drive very slowly especially down hills. My suggestion to the park? Maybe you could set up a toll booth to collect an entrance fee? Seems a much nicer way to...

Read moreDefinitely a must stop place for historians, avid Revolutionary War enthusiasts, anyone who is curious, everywhere who want to know a little more of early American history and are local/travelling through Saratoga Springs NY. We took the audio car tour and it was very informative, and gave options for pausing and getting out to see the battlefields and then listening when reaching the stops. There is also horseback trails, walking trails in the park as well. The visitor center was clean and staff on duty were very friendly and informative with the many questions about the site and area. It also had several rooms of revolutionary war artifacts, including a "light" cannon, as well as timelines and history. My friends and I were pleased with this stop and would highly recommend coming here. Be sure to support the park with donations or buying from the storefront in the visitor center. (Note: the tours were free, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy it, two hours was ideal for the car one, but allow more for...
