I had been to McCracken Farms many years ago with my daughter and in the recent years with my granddaughter. Our visit last weekend was disappointing. $10 admission was reasonable. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed the wagon ride and searching for the perfect pumpkin, which was free. But there was very little to do. Sitting in a saddle on a log, tossing a bean bag into a game board, walking through a poorly constructed corn maze and running up and down a dirt hill was not all that fun. The "petting zoo" was nothing like it has been in the past. Only $1 to paint a pumpkin in the Craft Shack but they were out of pumpkins to paint. The donuts I heard people raving about were out. Warm apple cider. Out. The only thing my granddaughter was excited about was the horse ride. But that was disappointing also. If McCracken hired them to bring their horses in for rides, you shouldn't use them again. Not friendly and way too short of a ride. Again, nothing like it was before. I'm sorry to say I probably won't return. I'll pay a few extra dollars for admission and go to Stokoe Farms. Much more...
Read moreDisappointed. No pumpkin. No memories. Went here to bring our infant daughter to a pumpkin patch for the first time. I've personally never been to one myself. We were rushed through the purchasing of tickets without explanation of how things work due to the line at the time. When we get in we find out we have to take a ride to the pumpkins, not an option with our infant daughter in a stroller. So when we asked up front if they had an area we could just pick out 1 pumpkin and leave, the lady told us we could pick out a pumpkin from the cart for 5$, after I had paid 20$ to get in with 2 tickets for a pumpkin. The ones we had to choose from were terrible, small, and mis colored. I didn't know we had to aquire the pumpkin ourselves or we would have never went with the baby. When you see pumpkins everywhere you get the idea you can just grab one and go, but we were told that was strictly prohibited. Had to get it ourselves or nothing. So 20$ for nothing but walking in and...
Read moreJust discovered this gem today- it will absolutely become an annual autumn event for my family! It's a large farm- set in the woods just enough to where you are shaded from the sun everywhere (except the main pumpkin patch of course) and its decorated beautifully with corn stalks, pumpkins and mums at the base of many trees along the path and white lights covering the ceilings of the barns...it looks like it is out of a hallmark movie! There is a small petting zoo, hayride to the pumpkin patch, corn maze for little ones, pony rides (extra $5) and there is a craft barn with a fireplace to warm you up on cooler days along with a huge bonfire outdoors. $10 to get in and that includes any pumkpim you can carry from the patch. My kids loved searching for the biggest pumpkin they could find! Overall, a great family destination that brings an old fashioned feel to...
