Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area — Attraction in Town of Tainter

The drive there is very scenic and nice. The trails are very well marked, signs and maps everywhere. You would really have to try hard to get lost there. The trails are also very well groomed and kept up. Be wary of steep inclines though, that is just the terrain of the area. The lookout tower was so neat, especially at night! Amazing scenic views up there. By the time I got there, it was dark, but it was so neat because I got an amazing panoramic view of the valley and the skyline of Menominee, WI. The outlook tower itself, from what I could see, is sturdy and safe. I had no worries climbing up it. Even when it was really windy, I could not feel the tower sway. There is a lot of wildlife to see there, I saw a deer on our trek back. FOR YOUR INFORMATION, the hiking trails are open to hunters during the hunting season, WEAR BLAZE ORANGE. There are warnings posted, but still, remember to wear it. There are hunters all over there and shots going off, be safe. I've lived in the area all of my life. Beautiful place to go hiking. Huge variety of trails leveling from easy to very hard. Every trail is marked with a sign plus you can get a map in the parking lot. The places I would reccomend going are the ponds and the tower. You can see beautiful views from the tower. Great place to come during the fall if you want to see some amazing fall views. If you are into skiing you are allowed to cross country ski in the winter here. There is also a couple bathrooms in and around the park. There is 2 parking lots depending on where you would like to hike. Lots of wildlife that you can see including deer, birds, raccoons, and possums. There is a wide variety of biomes here aswell. The west side has a large flat land and the east had a large Forrested area. There are picnic tables at the parking area and inside certain parts of the trails. There is also camping allowed near the parking area. Overall I would highly reccomend visiting here...

This was such a nice place to go for a walk. Spent around 2 hrs to walk to the tower and back to the parking lot, taking our time and just enjoying nature. Fairly easy trail to walk, saw some people with dogs. They have nice benches on the trail for if you need a rest and I saw a covered patio area which was nice. From the tower you can see a beautiful view which is worth the walk to it, although the trails are beautiful all in itself. I would definitely recommend going out this Hoffman Hills! You will...
