If you're from NYC, there is a strong likelihood that your tap water came directly from this reservoir and delivered to your household by a massive network of aqueducts and tunnels. The bottom of the reservoir has the remnants of a town of the same name, which was submerged in the 1960s to make way for the reservoir, forcing all of its inhabitants to relocate. There is a lookout along State Route 10 that offers great views of the water and information boards with some neat details...
