Aqua Lane Park is part of the chain of riverside parks along the Niagara River. On the other side of the Water Treatment Plant (don't worry, no bad smells) from the boat launch, this Park is bigger than one might think. There are some flat, open, grassy areas, treed areas, a playground, and picnic tables scattered about. The river's edge is made up of large limestone blocks, and you can overlook one of the widest areas of the river here, as this is where the river splits to go around Grand Island. It's easy to watch for bald eagles on Strawberry Island, or just watch the boats go by.
There is a walkway along the river side of the Treatment Plant, and you can get right to the boat launch along this route. Also, just up by the 190 is the bike path that connects to the Buffalo section to the south, or heads towards Tonawanda...
Read moreJust went here for the first time yesterday. It is a true hidden gem of WNY/Northtowns. I think people don't know about it or don't attempt to go because the power plant and boat launch are right there. Easy access parking with paths to tote your stuff. Lots of areas to picnic in both the sun and shade. Everyone at the park was respectful and friendly (quick "hello" as people pass by). No loud "party" people. The public restroom was very clean and safe!! Great...
