After finishing an NRF trip on the Mississippi we decided to do some birding in the Refuge by just taking a leisurely drive on the auto trail and it was great other than having to pull over for people who apparently come in to zoom thru to say they have been there I guess. We stopped and listened and watched and took videos and pictures of many birds we dont see in the city. The Refuge is a great place for birding or just taking a quiet walk or bike ride on its trails and enjoy the natural beauty. You owe it to yourself to come and see it. There are many types of wildlife to observe, but above the birding here is absolutely phenomenal. There are many different species of birds that can be found in their natural habitat here. It's beautiful there. The Great River Trail parallels and intersects with the gravel car road, then continues on.
