Beautiful area and great campsites with some issues. Very busy. The 4 campsites and 1 lean-to on the northwest shore filled up before 11am on a Friday. Reed beds make navigation/access from the Raquette River/Simon Pond/Hwy 30 bridge difficult. Winds from the WSW along the length of the lake pick up midmorning and kick up waves that are little whitecaps by late morning/early afternoon. Takes some careful tacking to get across the lake. Drunk dudes in the campsite next to us did some shooting in the afternoon. Uncool. Campsite was comfy but trashed. We packed out a lot of garbage. Overall, if paddling the Raquette on a multi-day trip, I'd avoid trying to camp on Tupper Lake and plan to paddle from the river to your take-out on...
