My girlfriend and I came up to Lake Placid for a weekend getaway in the wintertime. We had the absolute pleasure of doing a private stargazing session at the observatory with Marc Staves. Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory delivered such a fun and knowledgeable experience. We were fortunate enough to see some solid winter skies until the weather interfered. However, the experience was incredible, being that we were able to see Jupiter, Mars and Venus, along with several nebulae, Pleiades and stunning views of the moon. 5/5 would recommend.

Wow! What a thrilling experience we had attending a Friday night sky viewing. The organizers were all extremely helpful and friendly, and the astronomer made understanding the stars, planets and nebulas fun. We were able to see the ring nebula, Saturn and its rings, a view of Jupiter and it's moons, and a binary star system through the telescope. They had the field viewing area outlined with red lights which made the ambience so serene and beautiful while gazing at the stars and constellations. We very much enjoyed some of the Greek mythology that accompanies many constellations that the astronomer outlined for all of us. It was a blast for me as an adult so it must be absolutely magical for kids. If you live in the area or are here on vacation looking for something to top off your day of adventure in the Adirondacks, this is a must go! Thank you again to everyone at the sky center for putting...

Excellent facility, staff, and equipment. Every time we visit the Adirondacks, we make sure to visit the Adirondack Sky Center. We've always been lucky in having great weather and being able to join them at the RORO (roll off roof observatory) at night for stargazing. The area where they're located is one of the darkest skies in the entire east coast (check the dark sky map!) Staff is not only friendly but very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They let you look through various different telescopes with guidance and eagerness. We've had the pleasure of seeing the Ring Nebula, Saturn (with 4 of it's moons), a binary star system, and more through telescope with our own two eyes. They always have good merch - I have a collection of sweaters and t-shirts of theirs. We're more than happy to support such an outstanding organization. Keep up the great...

We drove a few hours to attend an advertised event at this location and arrived a few hours early. No one was at the observatory to welcome all the people that were waiting for the event to start. Many cars full of people were waiting in the parking lot and many got mad that no one was at the observatory, their was no message on FB event page to show if event had been cancelled...about 5 car loads waited for over an hour... Ileft review of our disappointment on their fb event page and people that work at the observatory blamed me, blamed all the disappointed visitors with strange accusations and statements that they don't get paid to show up for public advertised events nor to provide public access to the observatory anyway. Very disappointing experience in...
