Domaine LeSeurre is a relatively new operation making "négociant" bottlings, as this young winery has not yet started producing estate wines. However, the quality and attentiveness to winemaking is clearly present. Creative winemaking techniques and a tendency to Burgundian profile (even in Riesling!) make this a winery to watch. As the proprietors are currently limited by their lack of estate fruit, the wines will only improve. We will certainly revisit in a future vintage. UPDATE 9/8/2017 Revisiting after a great first impression in 2016 has only reinforced our very positive opinion of this winery. This estate can do no wrong with FLX whites; we love their varied treatments of both Chardonnay and Riesling grapes. The unoaked Chardonnay, in particular, is a well-loved weeknight luxury at our home. Looking forward to further development of the estate and the wine making at Domaine LeSeurre! UPDATE 9/16/2018 This young producer is still performing very well on our third visit to the estate. The building has shaped up well over the last few years, and once the estate is fully planted it will be a very beautiful building. For now, most of the wines are still negociant bottlings. They are, however, uniformly good, with some (i.e. 2015 Domaine LeSeurre Chardonnay Barrel Select) showing fabulous aging potential. A must-visit estate for lovers of the region's Riesling...
Read moreI am not reviewing based on the wine just the experience in the 15 minutes there and the negative vibe. We came in around opening. We have been to every winery in Keuka except this one and decided to try it. The place had about 5-6 people there and a couple in front of us checking in. They took a good 10 minutes which was fine. All we wanted to do was buy a bottle and sit outside. We did not have reservation for a tasting. After waiting for people in front of us to be checked in we were next. A couple arrived as we were walking up to ask to buy a bottle and the hostess rudely looked over us and asked couple behind us if they had reservation after we told her we did not but she did not let us finish our sentence stating we just wanted to buy a bottle. The couple behind us said they did and she asked us to move aside so she could help them. Even the couple behind us interjected and said they were 15 minutes early for their reservation and to help us. This hostess is by far the worst hostess in all of Keuka. Everywhere else you are treated with respect. We left. I don’t need to try their wine that badly to be made to feel like less of a person. All the down to earth places are the places to go! Which is every other winery...
Read moreThis was the worst tasting experience ever - and we have been drinking, buying and collecting wine, and taking wine related vacations for more than 20 years. The lady behind the counter had two groups of tasters when we came in, and a bit later a larger group showed up. The larger group was given another person to pour and do the usual song and dance, and we ended up waiting for the first lady to notice us. Finally, she did, poured us some Reisling (nothing special), and turned back to the people she was talking to before us. And never came back to pour us anything else, although we were two feet away. We waited and waited. Nothing. Gave her looks. Nothing. Glared at her. Nothing. Said “excuse me”. Nothing. She looked at us a few times - or maybe through us? Then we walked out without tasting anything else. I have never seen anything like that. We wasted about 20 minutes. My husband did “thank” her for her hospitality on the way out, but got no reaction back. Forget about an apology. Well, their loss. Way to go,...
