Campground/Park along the north shore of Shawano Lake. The campground offers a variety of amenities, including a swimming beach, Tennis Court, foosball/Ping Pong tables, boat wash, playground, and more. Overall, the park campground was quieter than expected, considering it is a 90-site campground and the number of sites occupied by families with dogs. Also, the water on-site was a good plus for this being a publicly owned campground.
The only things that were negatives during our stay were... Our site and most of the others have large areas where the grass has been killed off from camping rugs and trailers blocking the sun, so there were patches of dirt in the site, which ended up being tracked into our camper from shoes. When compared to other county campgrounds, the dump station is poorly located. To get to it and face the right direction, you have to enter and drive the full North loop, which is tight for larger trailers, and on Sunday, a line forms that backs up right up into the north loop, blocking any sort of traffic flow. I would have expected the dump station to be near the entrance/exit of the park, where there's way more room for a line to form. For our group, this wasn't the end of the world, but still worth noting; I was a bit surprised when I opened the power panel to our site to find that there was a 50 amp and 15/20 amp plug, but not a 30 amp plug, which I believe most...
Read moreI had my wedding here. It was booked a year and a half in advance and we had many meetings discussing what was included and what the process would be the day of. Despite this, they managed to botch every single responsibility on their end. I was excited for the AMVETS to serve the alcohol and I hate to say it but they were rude not only to me but to my guests. They also charged people after explaining SO MANY times that it was to be an open bar. So. Many. Times. Then, they refused to move tables after dinner to create a dance floor which we were told was included as they are the ones who provide, set up, and take down the tables in the first place. It would’ve been no big deal for me to have asked a few people ahead of time to do the job ourselves but they offered so we planned nothing. Then they refused to do anything and my guests were sitting awkwardly for a while until we figured something else out. The venue itself is beautiful but the people running it are...
Read moreI give this park three stars because the staff is super friendly and accommodating.
This park is not "hook up" friendly. The electric posts are too far away from the pads. Over half of our rig had to be off the pad just to reach the electric post. Thankfully our electric plug is at the end of our rig and we have a long cord. AND we have a fifty foot cord.
The new baby trees they planted are not in good places. Whoever planted them was not considering people parking and getting to the power boxes and rigs with slides.
These two things made our setup a mess and a huge headache.
The showers are FILTHY dungeons. They need some attention. I am ok with older facilities, but they can still be clean.
Do yourself a favor and visit with the management and work out a great spot that will accommodate your plugs on your camper based...
