We've made Treinen Farm an annual family tradition going back to 2019. It's such a fun day. Our kids are now teenagers and they've been bringing a friend with the last couple of years. All of them enjoy the food, games, mining, the hay loft, slides, tunnels, and, of course, the maze.
We travel a couple of hours so we make it a complete day experience. First, when we arrive we'll spend at least an hour or more playing games, visiting the animals, or doing the hike that offers an amazing autumn view over the farm. Then we try to get something to eat before tackling the maze. This year our trip landed on a Friday so we packed a picnic lunch and ate in the parking lot. The farm does have vendor-type food on busier days (we've eaten here before and weren't disappointed). There are also plenty of tables to sit at.
The maze is the main attraction and the Treinen's have made the experience worth every dollar of admittance. At the start of the maze a video plays that gives new attendees a rundown of what to do. There is a semi-blank map that you will add to as you progress through the maze. There are also "secret" posts throughout that can earn you prizes at the front desk (nothing to crazy expensive but cool for kids & bragging rights). After finding your way out of the main maze, there is a "Maze within the Maze." This segment doesn't have a map and I always try my best to draw out the path as we go (of course there is a way to cheat but where is the fun in that!? And I'm not going to share the cheat either). Inside the maze within the Maze there are posts that contain a special message/numbers/letters. It's your job to find all the posts then decipher the answer. If you are successful you'll be able to add your team's name to a leader board.
The last couple of years our group has split up into three teams and there's a small competition on who can achieve 100% completion first. Let's just say Mom and Dad are back-to-back champs.
Our visit this year came early so we opted out of getting our pumpkins here this year but we have purchased them from the farm before.
This is a five star venue. It great for people of all ages. Small kids will not want to leave all of the fun activities outside the maze! The atmosphere is exactly what you need for a Fall day...
Read moreOur family tradition for well over 10 years, has been to visit the Treinen farm. Well that tradition is now over. There is now only one price for admission, for all over 2 years old. And it’s over $18, and that no longer covers the pumpkin costs like it used to )if you could carry it to the wagon, it was yours regardless of size) with pumpkins costing as much as a gas station, at around $8-$12 a piece. On top of that they no longer have horse drawn wagon rides, so you need to walk out to the patch and pull a wagon with the pumpkins back. In 2019 we only spent around $60 for a family of 4, if you opted to not do the corn maze. Since that’s no longer an option, a family of 4 day visit will now run you well over $100. That’s not even remotely worth it without the price of the pumpkins included and without any tractor or horse drawn rides. So much for rural Columbia County prices. If this were much closer to Madison or a much larger city, perhaps I could understand the pricing. But my only take on this is that they are now just greedy. That’s ok. There’s other rural pumpkin patch farms elsewhere in southern WI that don’t have “city prices”. I get inflation, but this is ridiculous, and super sad. A good...
Read moreWonderful corn maze and beautiful property. I purchased our tickets online. Everything was very well marked on where to park etc. After you park they a tunnel that goes under the highway to each the farm. Check-in was easy and staff very friendly & helpful.
This was one of the best corn mazes I've been to. They had a brief video to watch beforehand and you could grab your map. But there was a twist to the map, it only gave you one section of it and you had to find the mailboxes through the maze to get the other pieces to the map. They included stickers to stick the map pieces to your master map.
Also another fun thing is they had stakes with different hole puncher shapes throughout the maze you can find. There are 10 total. We managed to find 9 of them. They award your simple prizes for getting at least 8 hole punches. We got a maze pen, maze master map sheet and sticker.
On the farm you can pick pumpkins out in the fields or they have pre picked pumpkins for a charge. There are kids activities, playground area and animals.
One recommendation is to hike the trail up to the bluff, absolutely beautiful view of the property and lake.
We will be back to try the other corn...
