Currently spending Father's Day weekend here at one of their rentable camp sites. Site was very clean upon arrival. Few things to be warned of. If you don't pay for a prime spot you are pretty close to other campers which is mainstream these days with a lot of rentable sites. So this is to be expected. Trails from the main road to sites are in need of repair so drive with caution especially if you have a vehicle that sits lower to the ground.. I would also advise stay within the speed limit for safety of others as well as the state troopers that radar enforce it. One last thing I would advise is to buy your bundle of wood at the front. For a quarter load of wood being around $25.00 ( price corrected.) This wood will last for a few nights.
Beach can get overcrowded.
Now for some pros of these sites. Fishing areas are nice but are catch and release. Beach always has life guards during hours of operation and they are very attentative. There are food stands but beware prices are high. At all the camp sites there are places for a fire and/or standing cooking grill for RV sites. Most of the prime sites look to have boat launches. Even for the tent sites there is a lot of room. Just be prepared to clean the area of some sharper rocks that might tear a tent. We only had to move several ourselves to place down two 4 person tents. Bathrooms are always within walking distance an clean. Showers might be a bit further of a walk depending on your site location. Never seen a line for bathroom or showers since being here. (Flush toilets, sinks and air dryers.) (Water taps every few sites as well) If you ever have questions you can drive up to the office and they are very courteous.
All in all I would say if you are in the area to go ahead and stop in at a camp site...
Read moreWe camped over the week of the 4th of July in our usual spot in loop A. We usually don't have many issues, however, this year was a little different. We got so we could not walk our 2 dogs around our loop as several other campers did not feel the need to follow the rules that says to have your dogs on leashes. Several times we had other much larger dogs run out to our dogs, which made them nervous and upset as they are just 5 lb chihuahua's. The campers seemed applogetic but did not put the dogs on a leash. These campers would let the dogs run around the campsites on their way to the area where people would swim and put their kayaks in the water between site 8 and 10 and then let them swim in the water with out being on a leash. Then these same campers got upset when finally, one of the campers at either site 8 or 10 said something to these other campers who did not want to follow the rules. We also had kids that rode their bikes right down the middle of our campsite. One of which broke off one of our solar lights. We even had adults walk right through with their dogs and almost step on one of our solar lights. We had some very rude folks around for sure. We are re thinking what site might work best next time, if there is a next time at Lake Delta. Which is sad because over the last several years we have overall enjoyed our stays there. But it might be time to look else where for our camping experience as the rangers were really remiss in making sure the rules were being followed. We saw them riding around, but they just ignored what was happening right in...
Read moreCAMPGROUND. The park is okay but the campground is junk. Be advised there is no water on the campsites at this "State Park".
Most of the sites are not as big as they are described and you'll only find out about the lack of water when you arrive as it's not advertised or made known before you purchase your reservation.
There are employees riding carts around giggling all day but my site was covered in down twigs leaves branches etc and there was garbage on the lot when I got there. Not a lot but any is too much.
I had family coming in from out of town. I called them and turned them back. I'M TOO EMBARRASSED TO HAVE THEM HERE.
I don't know why no one is understanding this next point. A campsite without water is a primitive campsite. A standard campsite has water and power. Why did I pay standard camping prices, AN OUT-OF-TOWNER FEE WHEN I'M NOT AN OUT-OF-TOWNER, and a registration fee when I'm registering online on an automated website, for a primitive site and the power pole wasn't even on the site it was on the neighbor's site.... I guess we can say that that place is in need of a serious upgrade. It's too bad I grew up down the road and try to tell people good things about this place but I'm not saying anything anymore. I'm not recommending Lake Delta to anyone. They obviously don't want...
