Currently spending Father's Day weekend here at one of their rentable camp sites. Site was very clean upon arrival. Few things to be warned of. If you don't pay for a prime spot you are pretty close to other campers which is mainstream these days with a lot of rentable sites. So this is to be expected. Trails from the main road to sites are in need of repair so drive with caution especially if you have a vehicle that sits lower to the ground.. I would also advise stay within the speed limit for safety of others as well as the state troopers that radar enforce it. One last thing I would advise is to buy your bundle of wood at the front. For a quarter load of wood being around $25.00 ( price corrected.) This wood will last for a few nights. Beach can get overcrowded. Now for some pros of these sites. Fishing areas are nice but are catch and release. Beach always has life guards during hours of operation and they are very attentative. There are food stands but beware prices are high. At all the camp sites there are places for a fire and/or standing cooking grill for RV sites. Most of the prime sites look to have boat launches. Even for the tent sites there is a lot of room. Just be prepared to clean the area of some sharper rocks that might tear a tent. We only had to move several ourselves to place down two 4 person tents. Bathrooms are always within walking distance an clean. Showers might be a bit further of a walk depending on your site location. Never seen a line for bathroom or showers since being here. (Flush toilets, sinks and air dryers.) (Water taps every few sites as well) If you ever have questions you can drive up to the office and they are very courteous. All in all I would say if you are in the area to go ahead and stop in at a camp site for a night.

This state park has a beautiful beach that has very large expanses of sand, which is unique. The playgrounds here are really nice and there's quite a few of them available for all different ages of children. We really enjoyed the water tables ! The camp store serves food and Gifford's brand ice cream. The food was reasonably priced ; $4 and change for a giant serving of ribbon fries, around the same for a cheeseburger with all the toppings, $3 for a huge ice cream sundae (not pictured). The store also has the essentials you'll need if you're camping and you forgot to pack something. The staff were fairly friendly most of the time, but often you get a bored teenager who seems to know nothing outside of their exact job parameters. (Ex: food worker did not know where a certain pavilion was located within the park) There were some things that we felt could have been managed better. On our last trip , a large family had speakers set up and were playing music you could hear no matter where you were in the park. It kind of ruined the experience for us, especially when we were trying to relax on our picnic. We also wish the locations around the park were more clearly labeled , as it can be confusing to navigate if you don't go there often.

non-wheelchair accessible restrooms within the individual loops of the campgrounds. Most of the lots are not tent compatible. The camping area consists of three loops, with only one shower house, which is not centrally located. The shower house is the only location within the camp area that has handicapped-accessible restrooms. The only other handicapped-accessible restrooms are down at the Beach House. If you're looking to go here for a picnic, and some swimming - it's a great place. If you are into hiking or trail riding, then this is a fun place for that. The rocks at the waterline at the beach take some of the fun out of the swimming part - at least for an adult. It would be great if the State could do something to get rid of all those rocks.

This was our second year camping at Delta Lake and I've gotta say, it's been amazing. The staff is very nice, the park is very clean and well maintained. The camping areas have plugs. The washing machines don't work, so if you're staying for a while you'll need to hand wash and hang to dry.. At the beach there are showers, a big playground, lots of tables for a picnic, it does get very crowded during the weekend so you need to get there early and reserve a table. Also free life jacket rentals for the kids and adults if needed. Life guards are at the beach at all times. Rome town center is only about 10 minutes away so if you run out of anything, there's Walmart, Price Chopper, gas station, etc.

This State Park campground was nice. We were in site #65. Sites were plenty big and easy to back into. Even though they were big, there were very open, which made it seem like you were close to everyone else. There was also a walking trail that went through our campsite I wish I would have known about. Thankfully no one used it while we were there, but I would have been upset if people had walked through our site. The park staff was up very early driving a gas golf cart through the campground, they also came into our site in the early morning hours and picked stuff out of our fire ring. It was quite strange, but maybe that is just what they do there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

CAMPGROUND REVIEW: the sites vary in size and privacy, but overall plenty of room and trees. If it rains, your site will be a muddy mess for there is insufficient stone and gravel on most sites. The roads in the campground loops are full of cracked asphalt and quite narrow in certain spots. The showers are below average and the stalls narrow with no place to put your belongings. The bathrooms have been renovated and are adequate. If you need to be in Rome, this campground will suit your needs. However. If you are seeking an above-average camping experience at a NY State Campground, go elsewhere in the area as there are better choices nearby.
