Upstate New York is blessed with a plethora of fine wineries. The nose, the taste, the mouth feel, and the body put most industrialized California wines to shame. In New York wine you can taste the fruit, be it grape apple or berry the fruit is always taste forward, and incredible. With such an incredible fruit growing area, in the past 30 years or so multiple wineries have popped up around New York State. Many of them producing an outstanding product, but if Shakespeare will allow me, therein lies the rub. Many of the wineries that produce fine wines have also produced a snobbishness about their wines, and their wineries. There is nothing worse than stepping into a winery to taste a nice wine only to be looked down upon, to be belittled to be treated as if you were a buffoon. This is not the case at the Young Summer Winery. The wines are exceptional, and are all fruit forward, ranging from dry to sweet dessert wines. But best of all the staff, and the owners are as fine and as nice as their wines. Herm, Wilma, and John go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, wanted, and welcome.
