While driving I noticed a trailhead sign and pulled in to check it out. It’s a dirt parking lot which half a dozen cars would fit in. The map showed a few trails but seemed like a short trail system. The trails go from wide paths that two people can walk side by side to other parts where it’s one person behind the other. It feels like some of the tails don’t get many walkers as they are overgrown but not a problem. All the trails were dry but it has been a dry summer so I’m not sure how the trails are after rain. All of the trails are well marked. There was one other car in the parking lot and the person headed out running. Once we started our walk, we never saw another person. It was a Wednesday and I’m sure you would see other people on a weekend day but I’m sure not many as the parking lot is small. The two other trail heads into this trail system don't have any parking area so only accessible by locals who can walk to the trail head.
There are a few wood carvings from downed trees along the trails. Most are old but still in good shape. It was a nice surprise to come across each of them.
There are no bathrooms available. I would recommend taking a photo of the trail map so you know where the trails go. While you can’t get lost it will allow you to know where you are along the trails. The trails seem to be well maintained.
After walking all of the trails and reaching 3.25 miles, we crossed the road and started on another trail which headed over to Cornell Hill Fire Tower Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park and made it a total of 5.25 miles. See my review and photos of Town of Wilton Camp Saratoga Parking Lot #1.
I give it 4 Stars because of the lack of a bathroom and limited parking. As far as the trails are concerned...
Read moreNice series of trails. Most of the trails are fairly flat and not challenging. They do offer a nice chance to get out in the woods. There are few if any people here. Nice wood carvings seen along some of the trails. Maps are offered at the sign-in registry at the beginning of the trail. Everything is fairly easy to follow. Trails are well maintained. Nice for just getting out in the woods. IT APPEARS THAT THE TRAIL HAS...
Read moreMy husband has been gushing about this place for a year now. He couldn’t wait for our littles to be old enough to hike and go here… but we were very let down. The forest has been completely cleared out in a lot areas and all of the sculptures are gone. It was an easy hike for...
