The park was what my fiance referred to as, "the armpit of the wisconsin state park system and it obviously hasn't been shaved in a long time." Why? The park was overgrown, there were narrow paths, staircases leading to nowhere, dented in gates along paths, a tree blockading one path, an unfinished bridge, etc. Also, the tower was closed. 😔 On the flip side, there was a hand-carved tunnel! 😄 It wasn't an awful park - we were able to hike the entire park in less than 2 hours. The mosquitoes are brutal, though, so beware. We saw nice views of the Wisconsin River from way up high. Then, I saw a dead crawdad, so those live in the area. The rock formations down below were great to see. It was a do-it-one-time kind of an adventure for us. We also spotted some wild black raspberries, which was a first for me to discover at a...

Great little state park that I'm guessing is very overlooked by many people given all the attractions near by. Course this little state park also has a very interesting attraction that you definitely don't see just anywhere, a shot making tower, which is very high up and has a tunnel at the bottom you can hike into and check out which is a very unique experience you don't find just anywhere. On the flip side though, it's not a very long hike but the shortest route requires a hike up hill to the top as well as stairs and the same is true for the second section from the top, and unfortunately the trail is currently closed from the second section to the bottom so you have to hike down to the bottom and around to see the tunnel or take the river if you have a canoe or kayak, but it's worth the...

A nice park, just park your car, take the hike up a steep incline dirt trail and get to the top of the tower that overlooks Lake WI. Then stay on the trail and loop around and go into a little tunnel. Bring a flashlight though since its dark in there. It goes 40 feet back then is blocked off. A peaceful park, I had the place to myself since it was a cloudy cold rainy day. Also, there was a sign up at the entrance that said "Park Closed" but a park official just happened to be there and said that only applies to Camping, but hiking is ok. Kinda misleading posting a sign like that, but oh well. Its a...

Nice campground. My advice is to stay away from site #9. We booked this campsite having never been there before. IT IS A HILL! We picked the flattest spot away from the fire pit and still ended up sliding off our cots. 😆 Not sure the pictures do it justice. Anyway we laughed it off and had a great trip. I would also heed other people's reviews and bring LOTS of bug spray as there are TONS of mosquitos. The toilets are what you would expect from a primitive campsite park. Pit style and in need of a good clean. All in all I would stay here again. The scenery is beautiful and it was very quiet.

Tower Hill State Park is a beautiful place to visit. It is nestled in the heart of Wisconsin's Driftless Area. Tower Hill overlooks the meandering Wisconsin River and has long been a popular site for picnics and bird watching. It is also a great place to explore the history of the area. Tower Hill is home to a shot tower, which was used to fire lead shot for hunting and fishing. The shot tower is about 30 feet tall and dates back to 1848. You can also take a short walk along the bluff, which overlooks the river. Some trails are closed and in disrepair. Camping. Kayaking. Fishing. Hiking.
