Spring blooms seeking sky Grey trunks dominate green trees As Teatown Lake stirs

We were looking for somewhere close to take our kids hiking (4 & 6) and came across this place via google maps. The initial google maps search landed us at Wildflower Island, which lead us to Teatown Lake Reservation.

The staff at the Nature Center were very friendly and helpful. Pointed us towards the BLUE trail which skirted the lake. Very easy hike with the 2 kids where they could hop and jump along. Plenty of benches scattered along the way, bring a little snack and water if you plan to do the whole loop.

Our overall walking distance from parking lot back to parking lot was about 2.7 miles. We spent 2 hours and change with the hike, bathroom visits and a quick peak at the live animals in the center. There were additional trails that broke off from the one we were on, some that leads to neighboring lakes or parallels the trail we were on.

Some other notes, apparently the beavers were active; along the trail there were many pencil point tree trunks for the kids to point out. They have reptiles and amphibians at the Nature Center, and the restrooms were very clean. Parking for non-members is $5 that you can pay at a kiosk with cash or credit card. First week of spring and seems like some mosquitos were out at certain areas around the lake,...

I've been visiting Teatown since before I could even walk to the point where I still, over three decades later, randomly have dreams take place here haha. It's one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful, places in Westchester County. It's absolutely serene with great trails that are very doable with both kids and dogs.

There are so many activities they do that are fantastic for the whole family. The work they do to take care of the animals and the earth here is so needed in this day and age and it's truly manifest in the beauty of this park. It's beautiful in unique ways each time of year though the attached pics are from our most recent visit in December.

I can't recommend this place enough whether you're a seasoned hiker just looking for a beautiful and relaxing hike, someone wanting a nice walk to get started exploring the outdoors, or are looking for somewhere nice to...

We've been coming here since my boys were born, spent almost every weekend just walking the lake trail and enjoying the wildlife and scenery. Now my boys are 30 and 31 and we still get out once in a while to just enjoy nature. Still enjoy the lake trail, eating lunch under the boat house, bring your own food, also it's carry in, carry out. When visiting make sure you stop by the bird of prey enclosures. Tea town takes care of a bald eagle, some owls, hawks, kestrel and crows that have been injured in the past, have healed, and are now ambassadors for the park. There's also a maple sugar shack, and the visitor center where people of all ages can enjoy learning about the diverse eco system and it's inhabitants. You can bring dogs as long as they're on leashes and enjoy a great day out in nature. The trails are rough in spots so wear appropriate...
