In my opinion, White Oak Farm has the best maple syrup and honey I have ever tasted. I am a chef and source as many ingrediants locally as I possibly can and I am fortunate enough to live very close to White Oak. During COVID I began producing a premium handmade organic granola. I tried many maple syrup and honey brands produced locallly and nothing comes close to White Oak. I am convinced that the reason that my granola is "crazy good" is because it is sweetend with only White Oak maple syrup and honey. I have been buying my syrup from Bri Hart, the owner of White Oak, for a decade and I see first hand the care and dedication Bri and his team put in to producing the best possible product they can. White Oak Farm is a working farm and has had its share of challenges, as most farmer do, but has never compromised care and quality, even when Mother Nature throw them a curve ball.
If you have a chance to visit the farm, and you should, to see the process of sugaring, honey production from their own apiary and sawmill and kiln. Located in Northern Weschester, near the banks of the beautiful Croton Reservoir the farm is a beautiful refuge in suburbs.
As I mentioned, White Oak is a working farm, it is located at the base of Turkey Mountain. The farm is very hilly and the dirt road leading you into the property is dirt and occasionaly shows signs of washout. This should not deter you from visiting but you should be aware that this is not a touristy roadside farm, throw your boots on, grab a walking stick and head out to White Oak Farm for some of the best maple syrup and honey produced in New York.

Read moreMy wife and two small children visited this place yesterday. The experience was not a friendly one at all. Families go to these types of places for the experience more so than anything else. We went to buy the local honey and maple syrup after visiting another local farm near by. The old man that tended the store was not friendly at all. The store was very small yet we still would have liked to browse what was on the 10-12 shelves where the products where shelved while not being watched. Our attempts at small talk to break the ice were met with rigid and dry replies. We dog owners/lovers and they had a sweet black lab laid out in front of the only entrance/exit of the store. Might be a good idea for the store owner to move the dog away from that location so that patrons can easily walk in and out of the store without having to walk over or around your dog. Accidents like stepping on a tail or foot can easily happen followed by a dog bite. Despite the negative experience, we still bought a couple of their products with lots of regret. First words out of our mouths after walking out of the store were, "Geesh, we will never come back to this place again". No one likes to give someone their money when its accompanied with an unfriendly experience. But we came all the way from NYC for local NY honey to sooth the sore throat of one our kids and have some for the upcoming cold season. If honey, maple syrup, or the family farm experience is what you are after don't go to this place. Visit one of the other farms nearby -they sell local honey too. Or visit your local trader joes or local...
Read moreWent there during Maple syrup season to hear about how it is produced. Had to wait to get into a cottage where the owner shares his knowledge. He was very impatient and not friendly at all, not even to the kids. He ask all visitors if they had watched a video before and made one child leave the cottage because he hadn’t. The boy was totally intimidated. That was so rude. And then he asked each and every one. Some littles kids chatted in between and he showed no patience. Even if the maple syrup is delicious the experience left a...
