We camped late July of 2020 here! Due to Covid booking was limited as the state parks must operate at a 50% capacity. We booked campsite #17(the only available one). The site 16 and 18 were already occupied. However, there was absolutely no trees or bushes between the 3 campsites. Basically zero privacy, and these sites were pretty small! The interestingly there were so many empty sites throughout the park and we couldn't figure why this park was keen on keeping people so close to each other!!!
I had read negative reviews about the "beach" and the quality of the water and now I understand the concerns. The pond is not swimmable; specially for younger kids. The smell was rather awful. Apparently the pond water had been tested and passed the test for safety! Maybe so, but goodness there was no way to walk or to swim in that water.
As for the bathroom, the staff were there to clean it; after all our camp site was facing the main bathrooms so we could easily see everything. But the campers came short on doing their share fair of responsibilities!
What was great about this park was the tall trees (obviously not in our campsiteš) and the many owls we saw on the branches. It's clear that the state tried to preserve the nature as much as possible in this park, and we greatly appreciated that.
Would we go back? Most likely, no! But everyone has a different experience camping. Try it and you may be very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall a Good Park and Campground. Facilities are kept as clean as could be expected. The campground claims to have some of the most spacious and private campsites in the state, but it seems to be the opposite in my opinion. Some of the sites seem to be a alittle bigger then average but there are very few that are private. Very little ground brush and bushes exists to give any separation from site to site. One of the reasons I go camping is to be out in the natural environment, not necessarily with random people. Shower House is fairly new and is in very good shape overall. Not a whole lot of hiking trails in Pearl Hill S.P itself but there are other State Parks in the area to explore. Older gentleman at the gatehouse was very professional and respectful, even with a request to change sites. Overall a good basic state park but be prepared to meet your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf being Stalked on your own Camp Site by Police for no reason, who did not identify themselves is camping to you, than have fun.
Going to this Camp Ground gives up all your rights, I would avoid and go to a Private Camp Ground.
There's no need to Pay money to be shaking down by the Police simply for being there.
The Mangers are very very Rude...
My Tent was up, and tag hanging from Window, so I do not know what gave the Cops the right to quietly stalk around my Camp Site for over 3 minutes and not identify themselves.
They say someone was driving around, so, yeah, makes no sense...
I left a day early and the Park refused...
