A VERY Cool covered bridge! So glad they didn't tear it down, but there has got to be a way to save this bridge so it can do a little more than being a foot bridge; but I know people would just take a big rig and break it (by driving over weight vehicles on it). I was always told, growing up, that bridge was "the bridge to Redbud", now as an adult, I have a greater appreciation for the joke, and the movie 'Funny Farm'; my Papa loved to point out his 'boss' when he was still employed by the book press (he worked part time at the 'Experiment', too). Read moreA beautiful bridge. Because no vehicular traffic is allowed on it it's very clean and quiet. I was able to take plenty of time both on the bridge and under it. I wished I had brought a swim suit because even with a low water level in the river it is a great place for a swim.
If driving north, Google Maps will send you off rte 30 and on to a dirt road for about 4 miles. Although well maintained and well packed you will be better off staying on rte 30 for a while longer as it goes right...
