Monday April 8, 2024, underneath the eclipse at The Height of The Land is where I proposed to my beloved of 8 years. I planned in advanced using Google Maps combined with other forecast maps and alarms, to literally be the last people to get a spot before the day started. The right place, right time, right environment, and scale of the occasion was just icing on the cake.
The Height of Land is a gem to say the least. In the heart of nature, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. My recent visit was nothing short of perfect.
From the moment I arrived nothing but breathtaking views. The sweeping landscapes and tranquil atmosphere provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation and reflection. The 'facilities' were immaculate, pristine forest.
While waiting for the Eclipse, I had the opportunity to explore the surrounding trails and talk to a bunch of really friendly locals. The atmosphere was simply amazing, with panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see; even better.
It's an experience that rejuvenates the soul. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful scenic view in a...
Read moreI’ve been all over New England, and this has to be the best view anywhere in the six states. I drove up from Bethel and have wanted to visit this and Quill Hill for quite some time. On my way to Rangley. We saw the beautiful view. Pictures cannot describe it. There is plenty of parking for motorcycles cars and maybe a small RV there are no bathrooms. there and the parking lot is paved. There are plenty of signs to explain the history of the area in a big giant sign that says height of lands to take a perfect picture. From this area, you can only see one lake, but it is so beautiful. I recommend anyone who’s lived in New England. Their whole life come visit this area. Especially on a clear day. It is handicap accessible, and we did see hikers in the area. To get a view of Wrigley Lake you’ll have to travel a little bit further down and across the street for that vista. I assume it’s open 24 hours there’s no gate or anything and there is two...
Read moreThis is a must see! The views from up here are amazing. You can see for 20 miles and easily more and everything you see is all Maine. You can see a few lakes and the Appalachians. This is easily one of the most beautiful places in Maine. We came here the end of August and the temp was 57 up there with very strong winds and a real bite to the air giving maybe 50 degree wind chill. Wind chills in Maine are extreme during the seasons. You easily needed a jacket here in late August. A little over 2 hours away at home the temp was 70. I saw a large rock with a large rectangular cutout and some bolts that were cut. It appears someone has stolen the beautiful bronze “ Height of Land “ plaque from the rock at the overlook. If anyone has any information about this theft please...
