This waterpark honestly punches above its weight. It's in a pretty unassuming location on the outskirts of Greenville County, but it's not too much of a pain to get to. The admissions cost is pretty fair, and an all-day locker rental is extremely cheap, at about $6.50. There was absolutely no wait to get to the ticket window, and the employee working it was very professional. The lockers themselves have enough space for a decent amount of things, and the nearby bathrooms were VERY clean, which was quite surprising for a waterpark. Additionally, all the lifeguards I interacted with were very kind and professional as well. I can't attest to the food quality, but I believe they just resell Papa John's, so it can't be the worst.
Now, for the attractions themselves. The main pool is just a typical 3 ft. pool, with a sort of "beach" style entry. It's not the most remarkable part of the park, but it's not bad either (and the water is quite warm, which is a plus). The waterslides, however, are what makes this park truly shine. There's three to choose from, all starting at the same platform. The first one was the blue slide, which is the only slide in the park to use inner tubes. This one moves at a more leisurely pace, but still very fun. Secondly, you have the green slide, which gets you going a little bit quicker. The one negative with this slide is that it's got some non-insignificant panel gaps, which kind of hurt the back to go across, but it's nothing terrible nevertheless. Lastly, there's the white slide, which is probably the most fun of the three. This one has the sharpest drop, and is also the fastest. I almost felt a free-falling sensation when I went down this one, which adds to the thrill factor, and definitely makes it memorable. The lines for all three of these slides were not bad at all, though I noticed the blue slide's line tends to back up a bit more than the rest.
Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area in the summertime and looking for something for you or...
Read moreAwesome water park for the price and location! Highly recommend to locals of the upstate. My son and I went on a Tuesday and got there about 11:00 (30 minutes after opening). We were able to easily get a close parking spot and a couple seats under one of their large umbrellas. Tickets were $13.50 a piece for those over 42 inches. They had a total of 4 water slides, large swimming pool and splash pad. It was enough to keep us there until about 2:40! The blue slide is for the tubes and you have the option for single or double. It has some twists and turns and pitch black moments that definitely got my stomach! lol. The green and white slides are non-tube slides. The green is pretty slow and windy, but seemed to be a crowd favorite! I personally liked the white slide. Huge drop and very fast, but so fun! The orange slide goes into the swimming pool. It’s short, but wide, and they let you go with your friends/family. The splash pad has a variety of fun water spouts and there is an abundance of seating throughout the park. The concessions has a selection of sweet and salty treats, uncrustables and Papa John’s pizza by the slice, but the slices are huge! We made the mistake of ordering 2 slices each and they were each the size of two! So, we made it home with leftovers lol. For the price and being such a short drive, it is 100% worth it if you’re in the...
Read moreMy first (and last) time visiting Otter Creek for a kiddo’s birthday party. I was born and raised in South Carolina, I am no stranger to insects, but the amount of Yellow Jackets at this place is appalling. Within minutes of setting up the party area both the mother of the birthday boy and myself were stung. Another guest moved the trash can at least 12 feet away from our party area and yet others were still stung. Surely Greenville County Recreational can afford to have PROFESSIONAL pest control done at this park instead of workers walking around with cans of Raid AFTER we told them multiple people were already stung.
We moved to another non dedicated party area and still had to fight them off. Several guests were swatting them with shoes. While feeding the birthday boy’s 5 month old sister they swarmed and mom had to take her to the car to be fed. Later in the visit a nearby trash can was left overflowing with trash which obviously not helping the issue at hand.
This whole experience was terrible for our whole party. My 9 year old enjoyed the water areas in the park even more than normal because “the bees aren’t chasing me in the water.” Our local park, Discovery Island does not have this problem. We will not be back to...
