This trail was initially hard to find after Google took us to the trail head which does not have parking but once we found the parking lot near it we were able to easily walk to it. The trail starts out with a steep incline of wooden steps to go up. We then ended up at the crossroad heading right on the wolfinger trail and back to the beginning by taking the valley Creek trail path along the water. It was perfect for our dog and younger child as it kept his interest with every turn and there were even a few benches along the way to rest and give the dog water. It is quite busy during a nice weekend day so most be aware of the extra traffic during peak times.

Highly recommend doing this 2.5 mile shady loop trail at Valley Forge. There's a short rocky climb to a spot where you ring a bell and enter your visit in the guest book. On the trip down, explore the ruins of a 19th century spring water bottling plant once owned by Hires. There's a small dam with a pebbly beach, river-side wildflowers and a covered 1-way bridge from the 19th century near the trail's end. There is a paved parking lot with restrooms, water and 2 picnic tables at the start of this trail. No bikes allowed, but we saw dogs on leash enjoying the trail.

Mount Misery Trailhead in Pennsylvania is the starting point for a popular 2.9-mile out-and-back trail near Chesterbrook. It’s a moderately challenging hike, taking about 1 hour and 33 minutes to complete, and is frequented by bird watchers, hikers, and runners. The trail is accessible year-round and is known for its beautiful forest views, wildflowers, and wildlife. Despite its daunting name, Mount Misery Trail offers a rewarding experience with its varied terrain and historical significance, as it includes the ruins of the Colonial Springs Bottling Plant

I can be found hiking this trail at least once almost every weekend. What's really unique about the hill on this side of Valley Creek is hiking it can be as easy or hard as you care to make it. It can go from almost completely flat along the creek to one if not the steepest trails in VF Park. The upper trail can get a bit tricky. Make sure you take the right fork after you pass Wolfinger (large pile of arranged rocks) if you are headed North on the trail (which you would have entered from either Yellow Springs Road or ascended Wolfinger). Going left will take you out of the park onto private property. What I really enjoy is you are walking on the same ground once occupied by the original patriots. These were the first Americans, many who died here to secure freedom for our Nation. If that doesn't make you proud to be an American, I don't know. The other neat feature is this land was once privately owned until Charles E. Hires transferred ownership to Pennsylvania. It worth researching the history of this area, the industries, The days of Gen. Benjamin Franklin Fisher a Civil War hero. The groups I hike with here always have fun and stay safe. The trails are maintained not only by the Park Service. A couple of private groups go to great lengths and volunteer their time and money to ensure these trails are safe and fun. I hike there all 4 seasons without fail. Heavy rain, deep snow or ice are the only reason not to go. The trees do a bang up job of blocking the wind on those really...

Valley Forge National Historical Park providing an excellent, scenic environment for outdoor activity. The park does a fantastic job of blending its historical significance with practical amenities for modern visitors. I spent my day exploring the Wolfinger Trail and the Valley Creek Trail. The Wolfinger Trail offered beautiful wooded sections and rolling landscape views. Following that, the Valley Creek Trail was wonderfully scenic, offering views along the water, including remnants of historic stone structures and the charming Covered Bridge area. The fall colors along Valley Creek were breathtaking! A huge plus for hikers is the availability of amenities. I appreciated having clean restrooms available and a water fountain right at the starting point, making it easy to prepare for the walk. The trails are well-maintained, and the expansive meadows and historical landmarks make every...

I have been here before and it is a nice trail, has an old one lane covered bridge and the stream even has a four foot drop off which gives the appearance of a tiny waterfall. Unfortunately today most of the trail was blocked off with chains. It looked like some of the mountain side hill might have come tumbling down and it would have been dangerous to bypass the chains and start climbing in and out of troughs and holes so I decided to leave the adventure to the young and more daring. It did make me a little nervous because the old covered one lane bridge that I drove over was exactly where they blocked off the trail. But my car made it over safely so that was my adventure for the day. I will try again but probably not until the spring time and hopefully the trail is open and the bridge is...
