Settlement of the site goes back to the early 1700s, when the first mill was built along Crooked Run Creek. Over the centuries, the site evolved through various owners and names, including Hatch's Mill and McDaniel's Mill, before becoming Brock Mill in 1899. The current mill house, constructed in the 1940s, replaced an earlier structure and continued producing cornmeal, grits, and livestock feed until its commercial operations ceased in 1964.
