Donner Lake Vista Point — Attraction in Truckee

This particular visit took place before the seasons had changed. Everywhere you looked, it was green & quite beautiful. Because it was late August, we could only imagine what it would look like after a snowfall.

Since then, we've had a couple of trips, where you could see nothing but white in every direction. It is so incredibly beautiful up there. If there's a lot of stress in your life, this is a great area to just come to relax and take it all in.

However, if you happen to travel, once winter has set in, be diligent about keeping an eye on the road reports. Be absolutely sure to follow their advice to the letter!

It's one thing to drive up here to enjoy all of its wondrous beauty. It's a totally different thing to be the main story on the SIX...

So beautiful up there! On a clear day you can see the lake. Beautiful pine trees and all. I flew my drone over the area and it produced some awesome shots! Even on a snowy day like it was. It is just adjacent to I-80 though, so a bit noisy, but easy access. Give it a try some time, it will be worth it. At least it gives you a break from the drive over...

This little spot is totally worth pulling over for a peek at Donner Lake while en route to Tahoe! The lake is super blue and you can see all the way to the mountains.
