I did some trail work on the Pacific Crest Trail for a few days using a chainsaw to clear off trees that had fallen across the trail path, using loppers to trim back the trees and bush's that are beginning to choke out the trail, using an axe pick and a tool called a McCloud to carve out trenches in the trail to prevent the flow of water from deteriorating the integrity of the trail and to try to minimize any puddling or unnecessarily muddy conditions for the thousands of hikers that have the courage to step out of the rat race, choosing a simpler yet profoundly more rewarding and defined path that is, the Pacific Crest Trail. This revitalizing respite from the harsh realities and disappointments that can challenge even the strongest of us allows one to for a short period step away and outside of these anxieties and to see the biggest problems in our lives from a different perspective. This clarity of a calm mind allows one to become an observer rather then a participant. And with this renewed perspective comes the ability to see acutely that any obstacle that life may put upon us is fleeting. And when looking down from atop a summit in the middle of the sierras seeing the brilliant and unchanging vastness that has serenely become what it is over the span of millions of year we become cognizant of how small our existence truly is when standing in the shadow of life's mountains. Nature has a way of guiding us toward questions that deep within every one of us is a primal whisper that can only be heard when one can find the courage to be still while freely accepting that you're only as big as a man standing in the shadow of a mountain. Only then can you hear that very quiet primal whisper telling you that you possessed the answers to all of your questions all along. You just needed be still enough to hear it. Somewhere along the way life got too big and too loud and we forgot that we already had the answers. That the weight of life's struggles and discontent becomes content and weightless when allowing yourself to be still, while standing in the shadow of...

A great place to enjoy a 4th of July fireworks show. The massive rock formations up here are Heavenly ! This huge lake has a waterfall that feeds a bay with an island in the middle of it. Lots of campers and bicyclist. The drive around the lake is just a motorcyclist's dream ! Not the best place for your noisy Harley Davidson, though ! The silence is appreciated by everyone up there. Taking pictures during a Sunrise often produces spectacular images as the fog lifts off the lake ! Incredible hiking trails as beautiful as any others in the World. Everyone should go see Tahoe, at least once,.... but not all at...
Read moreOff in the woods playing again... Tahoe National never disappoints! Work takes me to some of the most beautiful places California has to offer. Blessed to have a job in nature, a nature of such vast diversity. From snow in the high mountains to dry grasses in the lowlands. The range is truly mindblowing! With a network of rivers, creeks and streams that make up the Yuba Watershed as well as high mountain lakes and reservoirs. This area has been historically abundant in its production of gold mined from those rivers and mountains. Stop off for a walk or hike, we have both. Come by for a swim, camp out at thousands of locations. MINE SOME GOLD!! Check local and state laws before digging and ALWAYS make sure you are not on an active mining claim...
